Figured a new thread would get some Bills talk going again.
At the time of this writing, Tyrod Taylor has been named the starter and Fred Jackson has been given the boot. What's next? Is Rex going to keep both EJ and Cassel? Doubtful. So unless they get a decent offer for Manuel, I think the Bills get rid of Cassel and his big salary and cap hit.
New ownership
Exciting, new coaching staff
Great skill positions
Excellent D line
Powerful, young and fast linebackers
An improving O-line
A suddenly interesting QB situation
So what is the main weakness on this team? The secondary.
The Bills keep talking up Gilmore as an elite, Revis-like corner, but I don't see it. He's decent, but he's not dominating. The safety position is pretty good, with Graham and Williams, but there's not much depth there.
Robey is a helluva nickle back, but too short to really help much on the outside. Leodis was supposed to be the starter, but he's hurt...again. And the rookie Darby does not look ready yet...so the big question is how this secondary is going to do against the likes of Andrew Luck in the first game of the season.
Still, this is the most excited about the Bills I've been since the disaster of the Music City Miracle. If TT or EJ can really step up and lead this team, if the secondary can avoid giving up too many long gains and big plays, if Rex Ryan can actually inspire this team of young talent, then maybe, just maybe...
the Bills will make the playoffs for the first time this century.
