Buffalo Bills: Sexy Rexy and T-Mobile Time! Buffalo Bills: Sexy Rexy and T-Mobile Time!

Figured a new thread would get some Bills talk going again.

At the time of this writing, Tyrod Taylor has been named the starter and Fred Jackson has been given the boot. What's next? Is Rex going to keep both EJ and Cassel? Doubtful. So unless they get a decent offer for Manuel, I think the Bills get rid of Cassel and his big salary and cap hit.

New ownership
Exciting, new coaching staff
Great skill positions
Excellent D line
Powerful, young and fast linebackers
An improving O-line
A suddenly interesting QB situation

So what is the main weakness on this team? The secondary.

The Bills keep talking up Gilmore as an elite, Revis-like corner, but I don't see it. He's decent, but he's not dominating. The safety position is pretty good, with Graham and Williams, but there's not much depth there.

Robey is a helluva nickle back, but too short to really help much on the outside. Leodis was supposed to be the starter, but he's hurt...again. And the rookie Darby does not look ready yet...so the big question is how this secondary is going to do against the likes of Andrew Luck in the first game of the season.

Still, this is the most excited about the Bills I've been since the disaster of the Music City Miracle. If TT or EJ can really step up and lead this team, if the secondary can avoid giving up too many long gains and big plays, if Rex Ryan can actually inspire this team of young talent, then maybe, just maybe...

the Bills will make the playoffs for the first time this century.

No.

The weakness are coaching and quarterback. Important stuff.

The weakness of the team is QB then maybe offensive line. Rex Ryan is one of the better coaches in the league.

I'm going to predict a 10-6 record. Not sure if that will be enough for the playoffs.

Ya Lolol @ secondary biggest weakness. That is ******ed.

Though if the rookie Guard is half as good as I'm hearing, the OL ought to at least be better than terrible and maybe even average.

I don't agree. I expect the OL to be much improved. The secondary is the group I worry about most.

So Cassel has been released, along with Meeks, Eed Bryant, Freeman, and Reddick.

While Whaley has done some good things the past few years, I'm still suspect over certain moves - like trading a 4th round draft pick for a QB that hasn't produced in years, and then cutting. Nice gift for the Vikings. Also, trading up for Watkins and giving up a 1st in a GOAT WR class was just silly. Chris Williams. And others.

But I am excited for this year...should be interesting. TT has a real chance of turning into something special.

Pro tip: bet under 8.5 wins and 50:1 to win it all. I don't see a 8 to 10 win season. If QB is bad which is obv. likely, probably 6-10. If T-Mobile is actually good, f**k it, 12-4? How do they lose 7 games?

So the Bills bring back Cassel at the league mim. for vets. Not too shabby. Although, if Cassel ever needs to see the field, the season is over.

Dareus got paid. 100M over 6 years, 60 guaranteed! So forget about signing anyone else for awhile.

Secondary holds up fine against Luck even missing Leodis and Graham. TT looked solid. O-Line good enough for a mobile QB. Very interesting...

We'll see what happens next week.

Sweet open, wish I could enjoy it more. Next week is the fate of the world on the line. NE did nothing on offense in 1st half of either game last yr (all pts off turnovers), I assume they cheated in 2nd half of that 1st game, not even joking really.

Really impressed by 4th round pick Karlos, kid can ball.

Yeah, I'm glad to say I was wrong about the secondary. Darby and Butler both stopped up big. Gilmore had a helluva day, too with 4 passes defended.

The O-Line looks to be the weak link. McCoy was getting hit behind the LOS over and over again. Wood is done, Miller did not do well (first game tho, so I'll cut him some slack), and Henderson was worse.

Also would like to point out that we did that without Marcell Dareus

Yup beating the colts without your best player no biggie. o-line still has issues for sure, wood has been overrated by bills fans for a while now.

God this team is going to be sick. So reminiscent of the Seahawks when they first came onto the scene. Only difference is Taylor is worse than Russell

You can tell that how, exactly?

It is a nasty team but damn, they are built to win now w/ some of these contracts. No room for growing pains.

Tmobile $ already creeping up on DraftKings. Too bad, I was hoping to roll w/ him for a solid month+. Still a good play though imo.
I like how everyone says he's smart. The 3rd&8 out to Woods was a man's throw. The only nitpicking I've heard is it was mostly short stuff. Which seems extremely nitty given how that's all anyone ever does nowadays, especially the dink&dunker extraordinaire coming in this week. All anyone did was grovel over Tannehill/Bridgewater all offseason, neither of whom completed a 12+yd pass all of last yr and both of whom sucked this week.

Yeah, that 3rd+8 pass to Woods in a 2-minute offense was my favorite play of the day on that side of the ball. Preston Brown destroying Frank Gore at the line of scrimmage was my favorite defensive play. That hurt me just watching it.

Apparently, the Clay contract has a decent escape clause next year...if his knee doesn't hold up. Hell, the guy got it drained six times last year!

Just gotta hope the cap increases again next year.

More on Clay's contract:

We can cut him next year for a dead cap hit of only $2 million amortized over a few years and avoid the $10 Million roster bonus in 2016.

If he isn't healthy and performing well this year, the Bills can run.
