I think he just got wrapped up in his emotions. I wouldn't look too much into it. I'd rather have a guy on my team like that who has passion has a purpose for playing instead of you know someone like Ray Edwards that had none of those traits.

He had to wait his turn at LSU and didn't get to start until his senior year, but he was productive and effective and started every game his last year.

It looks like he's getting tabbed to play the Will, which means we'll be free of Phillip Wheeler, which anyone can get behind.

Bottom line, LSU is a well-oiled NFL defensive factory, and we sure had some success with the last LSU linebacker we drafted (Deion Jones)

I also like what I'm reading about the OL we drafted, Sean Harlow. Played a lot of tackle in college but looking like he's sliding in the RG spot.

In college the best overall athletes get tabbed to play the tackle spots, so he should be able to adjust easily to the interior.

Harlow's also a legacy, his father was a 1st round pick by the Pats in 1991 and All-American at USC.

We seem to really value bloodlines as an organization, I like the fit.

The running back we picked up Brian Hill (Devonta insurance?) fumbled once in 349 carries last year, like to see that.

In any case he's likely better than Terron Ward right away.

It still irks me that our stadium sponsor also sponsors the Superdome in New Orleans

But yeah the stadium looks soooooooooo sick, can't wait

Devonta got paid.

I'm happy to see it, he's earned it.

Most of all I'm happy the way the organization has handled it.

Since the new CBA, team-building is pretty straightforward... draft picks are gold, extend the superstars, and let everyone else walk after their rookie deal.

I like our situation much better than Le'Veon Bell's, who's pissed off at the front office, is playing on the tag, and will probably walk after this year.

I just hope Devonta stays healthy. I always worried about him being so small with such a large workload.

Because when RB's lose it, it can happen overnight and it's gone forever.

5 years, 41.25M, 22 guaranteed.

15M signing bonus, I think that all comes up front, and the hit gets spread out over the 5 years?

So to cut him in year 5 would be 3M plus his base, or something like that.

watching hard knocks got me thinking that jameis might be the optimal qb to have on a division opponent.

talented enough that they have to invest heavily and stick with him, but flawed enough (intelligence) that he's never going to be elite

can also say the same thing about cam (maturity)

at least brees is over the hill, though he was that elite qb for many years

matt ryan has settled in and hopefully continues being elite (no flaws)

devonta deal is terrible

why on earth would you give a RB 5 years or that much gtd?

I have no idea either. On one hand I'm happy this dude I like got paid, but on the other hand yea would be surprised if it's looked at favorably in 5 years.

Let's just win a SB or 2 so noone cares

The salary for the last 3 years of the deal aren't guaranteed.

The way I understand it, we basically can't cut him this year or next year,

but it wouldn't be impossible to completely cut bait with him after that.

I can live with that.

When is Coleman up for free agency. Would be pretty amazing in a bad way if we extended him too

He's got two years left, this and next

Devonta got extended before the last year of his deal.

The hope is the new rookie Brian Hill steps up and then we could trade Coleman to a team that would extend him. That would basically wind the clock back on our backfield.

I thought drafting Brian Hill would mean we'd upgrade the 3rd RB position,

but Terron Ward has flat outplayed him this preseason.

I also hope Reggie Davis makes this team (/UGA homer)
