We're never getting back to the super bowl are we?

Sark has to be a goddamn joke. Why the **** didn't we just offer the guy who Shanahan made his OC to be...our OC? No way he would choose to go to SF instead, right?

ah so we're not changing the scheme on offense http://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/b...0-d079f27a2328

Makes me feel better.

It's not like they're firing Blanks.

I'm worried about Quinn in pressure situations. not sure he has the savvy to win us games. He's shown he sure as hell has the Smitty power to lose us games

Credit him this - players love playing for him. they give it their all and then some.

Question is, can you win by the latter in spite of the former

OK so I know it's probably not as simple as it seems ,but why do we pay Schaub so much and let Dimarco go?

MMQB Article on Quinn after the Super Bowl

Yes, he has run bad in pressure situations.

But I believe, and more importantly, the players believe in the culture and they've all bought in.

Isn't that at least 90% of where the head coach's success comes from?

Put it this way, I don't know anyone we could get who would be better. Might as well ride or die with Quinn

It's such a tough spot. I love him for his leadership and culture and attitude, but I don't think he's much better than Smitty in regard to situational strategy / gamesmanship.

We extended Desmond Trufant, 5 years, 69M, 42M gtd

Seems good, we lock up one of the best young secondaries in the league.

It remains to be seen whether they'll pay Devonta. On one hand I don't want to tie up that much in the cap on a RB, especially when we have a serviceable committee. The cruel, business side of this would say let Freeman play out the last year of his rookie deal, let him walk, keep Tevin, and find a new Devonta Freeman in the 4th round again on a fresh rookie deal.

On the other hand, Freeman is an indispensable part of this offense, and he's definitely earned it.

So I dunno.

I always ask myself WWPD? What would the Pats do? They'd probably trade Devonta at peak value. They'd extend him 0% of the time.

Having said that, I would be surprised if we didn't pay him.

I really like Devonta and want him over some other 4th round steal, but I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't keep him tho I expect us to

So the schedule got released.

There's lots I don't like. I don't like early byes (week 5), I think late byes are better.

It's really interesting that we don't play our first divisional game until week 9. That means that basically anything can happen in the first half of the regular season, and our whole divisional standing will come down to the 2nd half.

5 primetime games, so that's pretty cool.

@ Pats Sunday night week 7... I hope we blow their doors off in Foxborough like we did in the first half of the Super Bowl

@ Sea Monday night week 11... Seattle's a tough place to go into, we'll see.

4 straight divisional games to end the season, starting with vs NO on Thursday night week 13. Then @ NO two weeks later.

we got a tough schedule. agree about the early bye, makes getting a 1st round playoff bye so important.

I'll probably go to the Buffalo game

why are we playing @ Seattle again? that sucks

Kind of don't think the rest of the division is going to be very good this year...certainly not on our level. Just gotta take care of business and get that bye

My manager at work told me I never will. I'm not over exaggerating either, I've considered quitting football. I've never had reliving a moment over and over again nearly make me physically ill to think about. Whether it's someone mentioning the game, a replay from the game, my own thoughts wandering into the abyss about the game. I get it's just a sport it really doesn't affect my life but we as fans invest so much time and emotion into a team. Non sports fans don't understand that bond and laugh at it but it's a real thing. And I acknowledge the very real possibility Atlanta doesn't make it back to the Super Bowl before I die. Last year's ride was hella fun but the way it ended and the thought it may never reach that level of fun again has me asking why even strap up and do it all over again? Time heals all wounds but this one is ripping at the excitement I have about football. Hope it doesn't last.

Only way time can heal this wound is if I die or they win a SB. Preferably against the Pats.

So I thought we should address an edge player first, and it appears that player is Takkarist McKinley

I pretty much only watch SEC football so I don't see a lot of PAC-10, but I trust our draft evaluators, and he seems like an ascendant young pass rusher who steadily improved each year in college.

If he's our guy then I say go get him
