Atlanta Braves: Win More Games Than The Hawks? Atlanta Braves: Win More Games Than The Hawks?

Grunch: For at least a moment, we stand alone as the top team in MLB. How sweet (and likely short) it is.

Fred McGriff was pretty much an all around bad ass.

McGriff was robbed of the league MVP that year. The Braves made up a ten game deficit and played .750 ball after he was picked up. An old story I saw had the exact improvement for Ron Gant and David Justice which I can't find now but which was huge. Add in the offense McGriff provided and he was the MVP. Never understood how they gave it to Bonds when the Giants had Bonds the whole year and had a lead over the Braves and then McGriff joins the team and the Braves catch them.

If the criteria is only "exceeded expectations," we gotta put JD Drew up at the top of the list with Maddux amirite?

Yeah, I'd put McGriff, Drew, and Sheffield on there. The list is better than I'd expected.

About all my enthusiasm for this team can be summed up into... can't wait to see what Vazquez has tomorrow!

This pitching has been awesome, I'm partying like it's 1995!

yea i'm changing my sleep schedule just so i can watch the games live lol. There are really no weakspots on this team..if we can stay healthy the battle between us, mets, phils and possibly marlins for the division is gonna be really fun.

How sick would it be if we swept the world champs today?

If Vazquez pitches well this season we're going to be very difficult to beat, especially if some of the hitters (Francoeur) can turn it around.

Should be a great year and a hell of a playoff race in the NL East.

Do any of you guys have any interest in a meet up at Turner?

I felt we ran pretty good in that game with nothing going their way and most things ours.
But needless to say after being on the recieving end of stuff like that in what feels like countless of games the last couple of years, that felt really good and definitely something I'll take gladly.
Finally a little luck! Time for the sweep!

I feel great about our pitching staff but still have a few questions about our lineup. Excellent start to the season though and you have to feel good with Vazquez on the mound as we go for the sweep.

I agree..I'm especially concerned about production from the OF.

Yeah last year was so tilt inducing, losing 4/5 starting pitchers and the 3 best relievers sucked obv, but they ran so bad in close games it was unreal.

As for the outfield, the potential is there, if Francoeur could produce like he did early in his career it would help a lot, as would Anderson having a big year.

One thing that really impressed me was Jordan Schafer's defense, he really glides out there, I can see where the Andruw Jones comparisons come from.

Very sick. Annoying that Mauer was so hyped up when McCann has basically been just as good it seems like.

Nice to jump to a 2-0 lead early with Chipper out.

LOL at some of my friends that made bets on whether or not he would ever make the majors. Bet was he had 3 years to make the majors once he signed, losers had to buy season tickets for the others. 2 that played on the baseball team said hell yes he'll make it, 1 that played with him and one that didn't like him said hell no. Of course the 2 losers refused to buy the tickets when he got called up and made up the excuse that he got called up by default as the Braves had no catcher at the time due to injuries. McCann is the best catcher in baseball IMO. Didn't ever think he would be this good

I believe I could have went and lofted 9 pitches and expected some of them to stay in the yard. Would have beat what our **** bullpen just did
