Ian Anderson (high school RHP) is our #3 overall pick. Was not predicted to go top 10..and we passed on AJ Puk. Well, the plan was to save some $ on the first pick and over pay later on guys who dropped so okie dokie? Sucks that Nick Senzel was chosen #2. Needed that bat in the system

With the state of our farm system I was pretty shocked and disappointed that we went with high school pitchers instead of bats.

Allegedly you can always trade young pitching for anything else, but still. I figured that we already have enough of that in the system.

Ha! I agree with that. That would be a total suicide bet.

I'll never go to SunTrust Park.

I'm considering stopping paying for any medium of MLB broadcasting, too.

I'm with you on boycotting it. or, if someone gives me a free ticket, i might get arrested for just parking where i want and not paying and stealing things from the stadium. i'd be so angry going to a game

I can't believe how bad this entire thing is. it's really just absurd how dumb the entire deal is

Kevin Maitan (16 year old Venezuelan SS) signed with us yesterday. As did 4 others in top 30 of best international free agents.

Maitan was the best international prospect available and people think is an Andruw Jones type talent

Every damn year at the draft and the amateur signings, people are like "why so many shortstops"

Maitan is supposed to be really exciting

I remember reading something from K. Law a year ago saying we had a handshake deal in place with him

He was drawing comparisons to Miguel Cabrera at the time

Yep we might be something special in like 2024

Chop County did a mid-season top 35 Braves prospects. In a subsequent post he said he'd slot Demeritte, the kid from the Rangers in the Harrell deal, at 24 on the list.

I like this guy a lot because he actually watches the minors and forms his own opinions, in addition to talking to scouts and stuff.

And I think getting Kemp is meh.

2011 was a long time ago, but we're only gonna pay him 8M per, and if the free agent value of a win is 7M per, then he can produce value at that price.

Since we basically had no other path to getting power into a corner OF spot, I'm fine with hoping he returns to form. He's onlly 31, not 35 or 36 like Markakis.

And we should all be happy that we're pulling the plug on the abortive Hector Olivera experiment.

I think image was a biiig factor in the Kemp trade. Pretty sure just DFA'ing Olivera is optimally better. Or maybe not..depends on how many butts Kemp (or the image he represents) puts in them seats. Coppy is all like 'we're totally gonna compete next year, look at all the HRs this dude is gonna hit!'. I was at the game last night and you could feel the fans just craving that ****

Not gonna lie tho, that Players Tribune article Kemp wrote was awesome. Maybe he'll just go beast it out for a couple years and we'll look back at this being a hilariously lopsided deal

I think with our TV deal this is the only way we are going to be able to bring in big bats -- low cost gambles.

I love the trade.
