I would assume the game you're going to would be similar to today's day game as far as availability goes. Here's some of what was available today, as well as prices.
Keep in mind, as a season ticket holder, I'm able to do upgrades 2 hours before first pitch. It's 1 hour for non season ticket holders, so availability definitely changes during that hour(home plate box was sold out today within 30 minutes). That said, you'll still have plenty of great options, depending on where you're hoping to sit.

$29.....I have some friends who upgraded to row 1 of 310 today. Home plate box is my favorite place to sit. It's closest to the action, you're behind the net, you're in wider, padded seats with deeper aisles so more leg room, in seat food ordering, and access to the bars/restaurants/bathrooms under the stadium. However, I usually sit there when I'm using credits and not actually paying for it. If we're paying, we'll usually back up a handful of rows and sit in the infield box either behind home plate or on the 3rd base side. Still great seats, especially for the price, but I can sit there 2+ times for what one home plate box upgrade cost. Also, the home plate box has 2 price points. Row I and below will be one price. Row H and above will be $10-$15 cheaper, but everything is just as nice. Section J and 122 are directly behind the plate, and usually where I try to sit. I've found I enjoy that view the best.
If you've never used the app, I always recommend to people to play with it on a day there's a game you're not going to. Get used to how it works, and how you can quickly refresh it to get different seats to be offered without backing out of the upgrades. Also, have your credit card handy and be ready to type in your info fast(also click the "remember this card" button so you don't have to type it in next time). Unlike buying tickets on ticketmaster or Stubhub, the tickets offered to you aren't help for X amount of time. They're available for anyone to get until someone has completed the purchase. So don't be surprised if the first time you type in your cc info, you get a "time is of the essence" mesaage, and have to select different seats. I've had it happen 5 times for purchase, even with my cc info saved.

Sometimes you don't even need upgrades, just have to run good. My ex wife is with the kids at the game today. They were walking around on the 3rd level, heading to their seats, when a Dbacks employee gave them 3 free tickets, just a couple rows behind Derrick Hall's seats. $145 face value, which also includes $10 food & beverage credit per ticket. Sick life.
