It's an interesting concept....at least they have chosen the right 'Stats' provider!

But if we consider from those Articles, that the only players submitting mass-multiple entries are the better players, then the amount of "Dead" money in the Prizepools from the Single-entry recs will still be the same. If anything, by giving the Recs a higher chance of winning, their money circulates in the economy a bit longer, so the amount of Unique entrants in each GPP actually increases.

In the long run, it may be better for the site as they have a chance to rake more from all deposits rather than money leaving the economy quickly as the better players keep winning and withdrawing. With the site benefiting, they can pump more money into marketing, and acquiring most new unique rec users, and the cycle continues.

Hi, for those who are interested, I will try to get the sweat show up before lineups lock so that we can show team news and have some pre-discussion, so I aim to be ready for 7.15 GMT.

Its kind of make it up as we go along, but we had fun yesterday and it was shown in the MondoGoal office, so if people want to have some thoughts heard, it could be a good forum.

We went though the goals/assists each time and showed updated events.

Graphically/design wise it's not the best as it was a last minute thing (have been tempted to do it for a while).

The aim is to have a fun place to hang out on matchday, and share the highs and lows. You can view yesterday's broadcast on my channel now, Twitch.tv/goldendonkey

If anyone would like to get involved either side of the camera, let me know. Of course I would love to get feedback on what we did well/poorly so we can improve. The best critics will be you lot.

Interesting concept, looks like bringing trading to the masses. It's an area that I have always wanted to investigate, but never taken the plunge.

Maybe with a commodity like football players there could be a lot of scope for people making bad buys? My logic is that people will invest too much emotion in their decision making, maybe that is flawed.

(I guess the next step is building a site that allows you to buy and sell shares in the managers who are using buabook based on their profit and loss.)

I've thought that would be a great idea for a while, nice to see someone giving it a go
Will definitely check it out when I can

I am seeing this advert for MondoGoal on Facebook and laughing a lot. There is just no need for this, Steve Reeves is very good player and there is no way he has won £20,000 playing 1-day fantasy football on Mondogoal.

DFS platforms have to start shooting straight and stop embellishing facts. The fish can be gullible but most soon enough wise up.

Yes, we play to win money and also have fun a bit of fun on the way. No need for this at all.

That's a good change. I also think they need to deduct points for goals conceded for defenders, and reward shots on target.

They probably mean 'won' in the same way that the poker media talk about winnings - i.e. gross cashes, with no regard for buy-ins.

That said, don't find it completely implausible that he's up £20k if he's had some GPP binks.

I also don't think it's a great advertising strategy: "Come donate your money to our resident sharks."

I play pretty much every game on MondoGoal in £ and barely see Mr Reeves, we play a few HU. I think a lot of it comes from last season, but it's definitely not net profit for this season.

How many fantasy managers are winning over £10k (net) this season on Mondo do you think?

In my eyes, I think the advertising needs to focus more on the fact that traditional sports betting can leave you with no outs in a match with 30 mins to go. However in fantasy, your entry is never dead until the final whistle (or an unlucky run of subs).

I do think "Poster Boys" are a great thing for the industry, people need winners to look up to. I'm not sure the UK public are as naïve as the marketing companies think.

Yeah when I said not implausible I was assuming he was around last season and might have had some binks. But I didn't play last season so really have no idea.

I think the only people who can be up £10k this season will be people with some serious run good in GPPs, as just don't think there's enough cash action available? Not that I've really got involved in cash games. I've run extremely good in GPPs and I'm not at £10k.

And re marketing, yes I agree with focusing on the 'fun' aspect rather than the 'get rich quick' approach.

Haven't seen the Ad myself but from what I've read it sounds like they're using Gross Winnings i.e. all cashes added together. By UKGC and ASA regulations they're allowed to state gross winnings like that, but it does have 100% otherwise they face having their license suspended.

In terms of using "Winners" like that in marketing material, I can tell you that the general publics, i.e. recs, definitely do relate to Ads such as this. Gotta remember that players like us are a very minuscule segment of the population. The other 99.9% of the population really do see these Ads as "Oooh I can make so much money from Fantasy Football! Cool!"

Well, bookies and poker sites do it, and they've presumably done their research, so I guess you're right. I cringe when I see such adverts, but I guess that's a small price to pay if it works.

Strange day today, lost literally everything I played in the early slates, then rushed a team for the evening slate and won nearly everything I played! I managed to turn a huge loss into a small win, so I am happy (and a little inebriated)!

We did another sweat show today, was a lot of fun, averaging 18 viewers for the stream. It would be cool to see some of you there tomorrow if you are playing, or even if you are not. You can view the shows in the archives at Twitch.tv/Goldendonkey.

Happy that this industry exists, I hope we all get a nice share of the spoils. Good luck tomorrow.

DONKEY xx

I was contacted about a new site that has opened:

"Oulala.com, the daily fantasy football platform, has unveiled a new version of its site, which is available to consumers in the UK for the very first time.

Launched by entrepreneurs Valery Bollier and Benjamin Carlotti, Oulala has secured more than £1.5 million in investment to date from business organisations and business angels including Google – which rewarded Oulala as one of the most innovative start-up businesses of 2014. The business is set to close on a further £7m round of investment within the next 12 months.

The Oulala version of fantasy football is unique in as much as it is the first and only daily fantasy football platform based on skill as opposed to luck, utilising a unique scoring system created using historical data provided by Opta. The platform is also the first to offer users the opportunity to make changes to their team line-up in ‘real time’ as games are played to create a realistic managerial experience, and users can select players from all the major football leagues across Europe including England, Spain, France and Italy."

What do people think about being able to real time sub? I personally worry that would drive potential players away, as they have less time commitment with other models, leaving a truly hardcore and small player pool.

I have played Oulala's games last season occasionally and it is quiet good as they cover the major European leagues. Most sites except Mondogoal offer La Liga only, so their move to daily fantasy is to be welcomed.

Here is a playing guide:

http://www.fantasyfootballstrategist...tasy-football/

Real time sub that will be the second site I know to offer that. Only Draft Kings in the US seems to have late swap feature.

Most daily fantasy sites do not include squad and auto-sub option. So one is at the mercy of events, squad rotation's and manager's tinkering. Non-playing player pretty much means very low chance to cash.

So a rock and hard place. Leave as it is and most will be put-off by non starting players wasting their contest buy's. Implement real time sub/late swap and that could only appeal to the very dedicated & have flexible time.
I am in favor of some sort of solution so us to have all the fixtures included say Saturday/Sunday or Tuesday/Wednesday.
