Basically everything I do is on ESPN so if I'm gonna invest time in a yahoo league I wanna see who else is joining, since the fun factor would be enough to rope me in. Once I'm in a league I'm pretty committed, Dan can attest to that with the multi sport league

I'd also like to address the tanking rule - maybe we could do one or some of a few suggestions to stop people from this...

* Have a high score weekly payout. Even as little as $10 gives a lot of incentive and adds some fun each week.
* Have a low score weekly penalty (this could also be set so that the low score pays the high, or it could be less. Nobody wants the penalty)
* Have the bottom four teams compete for the top pick in the next years draft, so that there is incentive to keep trying
* Have a penalty if you start someone that is on bye (or IR) or even if they don't play due to injury? You can have some discretion on this part I guess, if a guy is waiting for player news game day decision and something happens and he is inactive, etc.
* Just assign draft picks according to OPTIMAL points for the entire season. I think each week yahoo tells how many points each team could have scored, you just add those up and whoever had the worst team picks first regardless of actual record, and so on. This method seems to be pretty accurate in determining which are the best and worst teams. There is a lot of scheduling luck involved in fantasy.
* Along those lines, just keep an all play record, and assign draft picks according to that. Pretty much right in line with the scoring for optimal points, but maybe a team or two is shifted.

Some of this is a little more work for the commish, but not that much. The main thing is the payouts, if you want the losers paying the winners on weekly high score, but if you are collecting a year ahead, that makes it easy. You just take their additional owed out of next years money at the end of this season, and they owe whatever the next season.

I prefer no kickers, and a few more bench players. Only 20 just makes it a lot harder to take any fliers on rookies. More like 25 or using taxi squads is my preference.

I know I wrote quite a bit for a first post when I'm not even in yet, but, these are all ways that help stop the tanking for draft picks. I personally prefer the all-play method, the penalty for starting bye players, and the weekly high score payouts, those are all fair and fun.

As for the league money, I thought the point of LeagueSafe was that the commissioner would set the payouts, and then the majority of the league had to approve of where the money went. I thought that was basically the whole point of Leaguesafe, that no one person can take it all without a majority agreeing. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you wrote about that. Thanks.

OK so we are at 8/12 if kuta is in. Those are some good rules to prevent tanking Cat. We will talk about that stuff once the league is filled and decide on a couple of those things to implement. I also agree on the no kickers thing. That also gives us more spots for flyers since you don't have to have 1/2 spots filled with kickers.

I don't do the league approval on Leaguesafe because it takes too long to send out payouts waiting on everyone. I just leave it as commish control and send the payouts out the same day. But I have a lot of vouchers and have run the other dynasty league for 3 years now with no hiccups.

I like this idea. ^^^^ We might actually have had a playoff team that won money a couple years ago with a top 3 pick.

As far as money and payouts go Toerazor has always paid out. I'm not sure if he waits for stat corrections or not. I don't think any of our money games have been that close but everybody has been paid quickly and the right amount every time.

Also just plan on anything we decide before the league actually starts being the rules for as long as the league is in existence. It's next to impossible to get anything changed once we start up. In the other league I think we had 11 out of 12 owners that wanted to get rid of kickers and, welp, we still have kickers. Not calling that owner out he had two kickers on his roster and thought it was in his best interest to keep kickers.

So these setting will be the same for the life of the league I imagine.
