There needs to be an extreme punishment for anyone who does this type of thing regardless of whether it's an established rule or not. Just because it isn't clarified that you shouldn't do something doesn't mean it's okay. I will not play in a league where people can intentionally tank a matchup to try to **** someone in the overall standings. The overall standings shouldn't be determined by who can be the scummiest and **** over their competitors by tanking matchups, it should be based on who has the best teams overall. That's why I joined this league, not to try to cheat people who deserve money out of it by angleshooting.

I'm with you on the issue of this being ****ty, but no one has come up with a solution, so this is all just noise.

There's the solution. Severely punish people if their actions don't increase their chances of winning in that sport in any logical way.

im not mad, im more just insulted. this kind of angle shooting is just really immature to me. there's h2h strategy and then there's benching your whole team the whole week.

the first obvious solution is to make basketball roto, seeing as it has more weight on it to determine the overall standings, which would prevent this kind of thing.

and second, to have harsher tanking penalties. im all for that, so in the interest of sparing noise ill happily take PMs with ideas and then figure out with dan and peste, and come up with some proposals. or hash it out over the board, im fine with whatever

Sorry I haven't posted about the basketball situation I have been pretty busy the past week. Anyways, I know that some of you think that it was a cheap play and others understood the decision. The only way I could increase my positions in the standings was by not playing anybody, albeit at SIU's expense. Considering it was within the rules I don't think there was anything wrong with the decision. Do I think it should be within the rules? Not really. I do think something needs to be done to fix basketball and the various forms of tanking that took place. I do not think that Roto would be the answer to that, but I do think that changing the line up settings from daily to weekly would do the trick. I know we voted on there being a punishment for tanking but I think we should alter it from 3 occurrences before a punishment is issued, unless the 3 occurrences was specified as 3 inactive or empty roster spots oppose to 3 weeks. If it was 3 roster spots the way I played the final week would have been in violation of the tanking rule. Anyways that's my take on that. And SIU nothing personal it was just a strategic move and me and Jrock had discussed giving you the $$ you would have gotten for 3rd in basketball if it had dropped you down in the standings.

Also, Hanley Ramirez is on the block. I already have one offer that I like but I am going to see if anyone else would be willing to beat it. I am probably going to take the deal I have in place by tonight if I do not receive any offers that interest me.

ive never really done roto before, but wouldnt making basketball roto make spotting and thus punishing tanking a lot easier?

in h2h, there are times when its strategically and ethically fine to bench your team or certain players, no one's arguing that, but if its roto isnt there no reason to bench your whole team unless its to tank?

i dont get how making it weekly vs daily changes anything, but again, ive never played a weekly league. seems like it would just make it easier for people to forget to set a lineup and inadvertently tank/put out an empty lineup
