I'm not drafting the jerk this season out of principle. I drafted him last year and started him every day but once for the first several months of the season, not wanting to give up on him. The only day I ever benched him was when he was up against Jose Fernandez and he hit two homers that day. THE JERK!

Not a decision I need to make immediately, but one I'll have to think about. Standard 5x5 H2H, 12 teamer.

Have to keep 3 out of these 5, and one of them MUST be an OF. No cost involved.

Hanley
Upton
Harper
Posey
Donaldson

Thoughts?

Another quick keeper trade question from that same league:

My gomez (26)

For his billy Hamilton (9) and Harvey (2). My initial thoughts are hell no but first year doing a keeper and I honestly have no idea

If I have a guy who I can keep for significantly less than market value, Im not trading him unless i get back an equally productive player or better, who is also cheap to keep.
Hamilton and Harvey are both really cheap, but you are losing a ton of production if you let Gomez go.
And its not like you would be able to redraft him with your surplus cash.

Does anyone know of any public sites that offer season-long public leagues with cash buy-ins and cash prizes? CBSsports does one that appears to offer a laughable 50% rake. Looks like Yahoo Sports offered one last year, but not this year (yet?).

Thanks for the help

Yahoo Pro leagues should start up soon. Their rake is or around 25%.

Are you sure about 25%?
In the YPros I played last year Im pretty sure they only kept 1 buyin, and baseball YPros are all 12 team leagues. So that works out to just over 8% rake.
Am I misremembering?

Nah I think you're right. I'm pretty sure it was around 10%.

Strat question: Does Kershaw go higher for you in a Yahoo league than an ESPN league because of IP max considerations? Where are you picking him in each?

Really sucks for him. Wonder if his career in MLB ever gets back on track.

In an 8-player keeper league and I'm struggling with my last keeper.

Keeping:
Miggy
Brantley
Ellsbury
Freeman
Scherzer
Price
Fernandez

Considering:
Werth
Ross
Jansen
Molina
Blackmon
Betts

My OF and SP are already quite strong and I would probably lean towards Kenley Jansen if he wasn't starting the season on the disabled list. I actually really like Betts' upside, but he's still not guaranteed a starting gig in Boston at this point - if he can find 400+ ABs, I like his 2B eligibility though. Blackmon looks like the best choice looking at last season's total numbers, but he spent most of the second half on my bench. It's tempting to go with Ross and start with a loaded rotation and well-balanced offense.

I dont really like any of those options.
In an 8 team league I would never keep a closer healthy or not.
Along with Jansen, Werth is also recovering from surgery and will miss time, and Molina is pretty close to a replacement level catcher in an 8 Teamer. I feel the same way about Blackmon in the OF.
Ross is your best bet for production, but hes only like a SP3 or 4 in your league.
Betts really shouldnt be kept in a format that shallow (unless you get a huge discount in price or draft round because at this point hes nowhere near a top 50 player) but if he does get full time ABs he has a good shot to outproduce all those guys you listed as final keeper choices.

I'm going Jansen personally... Your team is stacked for a 12 teamer and can take the hit until he comes back

Thoughts on Christian Yelich this year? and beyond?

In a 2+2 league I'm torn between keeping him or Puig. Due to keeper rules Puig would only be kept this year and possibly next(cost is a 3rd this year, 2nd next year). Yelich could be kept for a 17th this year and max out at a 7th in 2019 if I kept him that long.

Initially was set on keeping Puig, but now I'm not so sure. My other keepers are pretty strong(Trout(1), Rizzo(7), Donaldson(6), Degrom(26)) so I think I have a shot to win this year. Also read somewhere that Marlins plan to hit Yelich 2nd or even 3rd rather than leadoff to further complicate things.

Puig ADP 21
Yelich ADP 84

6x6 OBP, TB, HR, SB, R, RBI
