Thayer, just want to point out that I set your ESPN money to $9 despite you only actually have $1, since you still have 2 freebie cuts left.

Do I technically still have 4 freebies left and the 1st 2 were with my remaining budget? I thought I still had some minimal money left before my 2 pickups

I'm creeping closer to 'Kershaw is available' territory. Preferences are (1) controllable hitting that can help me in 2018-2020 [minor leaguers are fine], (2) draft picks, (3) everything else.

If we're getting into "starting to throw players on the block territory": Seager, McCullers, Quintana, Segura, Ramirez, Betances, Osuna, Beltre, Werth, Wieters, Hammel, Morales are all available for varying degrees of prices. Looking for picks/prospects

Looking to trade a closer for a prospect/pick, also considering trading Gattis(catcher)

Speaking of closers. If someone wants to roll dice on Jeffers let me know. Just looking for a cheap young player or pick

I'm willing to trade some picks and/or prospects for a good SP or 2, re-builders get at me. The sooner we make a deal the better for both of us. I have a number of very good pitching prospects but would rather trade away the ones further away from the majors

Im not sure what "remaining budget" your talking about?

All teams receive 4 freebie cuts, you also get 2 additional cut prior to opening day lock.

From rules tab: "5) Each team receives four “freebie” cuts to use during the season. When a freebie cut is used, $4 (league minimum salary) of the cut player’s salary is waived. The team must pay any difference in salary beyond $4. Freebie cuts kick in once the FA auction is completed. From the time the FA auction ends to the time rosters are locked on Opening Day, teams are granted two “bonus” additional freebie cuts (totaling six) to aid in pre-season roster management. These “bonus” cuts are void once the regular season starts."

So in your case you dropped Chris Shaw on 3-26 who was a bonus freebie cut, your other 2 cuts were after opening day started (Hector Rondon 4-2 & Ben Revere 4-9). Those make up 2 of your 4 freebie cuts. Your current roster budget is at $999, leaving you $1. I edited your ESPN to $9 to allow you to make a move(s) with your remaining 2 freebie cuts ($4 each).

I thought I ended the auction with $ leftover, like $8 or so (if I'm wrong about that carry on obv) and was wondering if that meant I had 4 free add/drops + my money leftover so I could theoretically sign say 5 or 6 different players in any order.

Also,

Chris Shaw wasn't a cut. He was a placeholder for Jon Singleton as a roster spot during my draft and then I moved him to the minors when he became ML eligible, so I don't think he counts?(Though the player I added should)

Ok ya your right on Shaw, regardless that would have been a freebie cut, which expire after season starts. So it's not related to you having 2/4 remaining.

And ya, I think you ended the auction with $9, you added 4 players since then all at $4, 2 cancelled out via freebie cut. The other 2 were just adds $4 each.

Hope that makes sense.

I can leave Gsellman and Cotton in my minors (drafted them as rookies in the 2017 draft) all year with no real consequence if I want to play it that way, right? Obviously they will be forced promotions onto my roster in 2018 but they would be year 1 players in 2018 in that scenario.

Do I have that right? I thought so but just making sure

Thayer, I reversed your 2 pickups. Again, you have $1. You also have 2 freebie cuts, in order to make those moves you would have to make 2 cuts.

Ok spreadsheet and ESPN should be up to date with edits. A couple quick things, Motter and Leclerc both qualified as rookies (Toles as well) to start the year so they would be 1 year rentals per the new rule. On the google sheet they will have a year 5 next to them for that reason.

Thayer you have 1 freebie cut left, so I added $4 to your ESPN funds ($5 total).

fyi that means you have to cut someone when you pick up someone next, even if you have an open DL spot for the guy.
