I've got some cap space to trade for a pick if anyone needs it.

Anyone want to trade a cheap 1st baseman that starts (obv not looking for someone awesome) for Pence (full paid)? Running out of 1B options in the auction and I should probably have at least one lol

Rules clarification that I should know, but don't:

Players picked up midseason are standard contracts unless A) they were bought in initial auction B) they were ever owned at all during the season ?

I think it should be A? not sure, but either way I can't remember how we handled up to now.

I believe it is (B) - if you were the first team to pick up the player you could retain based on our normal rules. But if the player was previously owned either via the auction or as a WW pickup he would go back in the player pool at end of year.

"10) Any player who is dropped to waivers during the regular season can not be kept past the end of that season if they are picked up. However, any player on waivers who was not previously rostered through the free agent auction or rookie draft at the start of the season may be kept long-term."

From Rules tab, so I would say A

I don't think that is the way it worked last year though. Look at David Phelps who I had to cut:

May 15 - added by Three True Outcomes for $4 (implies he was not auctioned)
July 3 - dropped
July 4 - added by Three True Outcomes again (not sure what happened here)
July 31 - dropped
August 21 - I picked him up for $8

He was an auto cut for me at the end of the season. I don't really care in this case since the Marlins hate him for some reason, but he can't be the only example

Just for clarification, the add/drop in early July was because TTO tried to add a rookie and the move was reversed.

Either way we have a FA pickup, drop, pickup by me and forced cut. Again its David Phelps I really don't give a crap but want to make sure I know what the rules are

Ya it's possible this was just an oversight by me. But I'm also having trouble remembering the process in which I checked these things each week. Let me look more into this later tonight when I have time and see what else I can find.

Wouldn't this text at the start of that rules line:

Quote:
Any player who is dropped to waivers during the regular season can not be kept past the end of that season if they are picked up.
...apply to all players dropped from a roster mid-season, regardless of the other factors? I seem to recall this being the case. So if alekhine added Phelps via waivers, but then dropped him and I picked him up, I'd still have to auto-cut Phelps at the end of the season. Right?

This is I believe the correct interpretation, plus I'm fairly certain it's how we did it last year anyway.

Ya, couldn't remember how it was done exactly. But after looking it over, ya it was option B.

So: regular waiver rules in place for Sunday? Regular season on, basically?

I assumed we would start the season on Monday April 3rd. If so, we can schedule waivers for Sunday April 2nd? I can start loading the teams up on ESPN tomorrow or possibly tonight.

lol oh man, lets break this down...

1) yes you need to pick one more player in the auction

2) welcome to the league, we don't use waiver priority, lol

3) Its weekly free agent auction, meaning we bid on free agents each week, every Sunday around 11pm the claims process on ESPN.

We usually start on Monday, this would allow everyone one sunday before the season starts to make any waiver claims they want/need.

I have four year 1 rookies that are going to begin the season in the minors but are currently on my major league team. When do I need to declare/submit them by to start in the minors?

Ok teams are loaded on ESPN, but teams free agents budgets may not be 100% accurate yet. Once the spreadsheet is fully updated I will make sure they agree.

As of right now we are set to start the season Sunday April 2, with the first week of waivers tomorrow night. Is this going to be ok with everybody? Not sure if this is enough notice. I would say Exit will give the final say on this.

Meanwhile, look over your teams and let me know if there are any issues/errors. Also maybe chime in if the above dates work, thx!

This seems pretty natural. We just finished the auction so it's not like we haven't all had a chance to check guys out, I imagine only Thay3r will be adding unless there's been a major injury or something. Good to have one round of waivers before the season starts on Sunday.
