There's a mistake in the players that have been inputted for the auction. You've given me Ryan Zimmerman (3B) instead of Jordan Zimmermann (SP).

Profar was taken already.

also just finished entering the keepers. 270 of the 390 roster spots are already filled, so we should have no trouble getting this done by opening day.

How is a tomorrow night start for everyone? alternative would be any time on Monday.

note start time isn't crucial, you dont have to be around for at least 24 hours before players begin to be sold.

i had bumgarner listed as a rookie still. he's not. it's now fixed.

karak now has another draft pick, he can pick whenever.

Robinson Chirinos.
next two picks edited in shortly.
edit: Mark Trumbo.
edit edit: and Jerry Sands.

boom done, fifield and karak both have make up picks remaining and then we are complete.

Also, Muckface and I were talking and he suggested allowing teams to have >10 minor leaguers up until a certain date. It'd only apply to minor leaguers acquired by trade, still no minor league pick-ups mid season.

What do you guys think about that? maybe allow up to 15 (actually, might not need to cap it) and cut down to 10 by some date in the summer? it'd give some more flexibility with trades.

With the current system, it really inhibits the ability to trade prospects for good mlb players. Especially at this point of the season. I noticed you guys try to emulate real MLB policies in the league, so teams trading prospects for big contract mlb players is how those deals get done.

Why do you say that?

In a related note, I have a lot of cap room and great value contracts as well as 6 of Keith Law's top 23 prospects. If you feel like you'd like some extra $ for the upcoming free agency give me a holler, maybe we can work something out.

because since teams are capped at 10 minor leaguers, which everyone has now that we've drafted, unless they're ready to cut or promote someone then they can't acquire more by trade. most people arent looking to cut more members of their team now considering we just had a cut deadline.

i think i like the idea of allowing more for a bit (trade deadline? all star break?) - only acquired via trade though so each years rookie draft should still be fun/plenty of talent.

Why don't we do a Rule 5 type thing?
MLB: 2+2 (small stakes) Dynasty Fantasy Baseball League Interest/Discussion thread Quote
03-13-2011 , 04:22 AM
What do you mean by that? Rule 5 Draft is for guys that have spent too much time in the minors w/o being on a 40 man roster - how would that apply/what would it solve?

Say we have 10 guys every year that are minor leaguers that we protect, any # over that instead of getting drafted can get plucked by other teams if they keep them on their big league roster for a year. You could have infinite minor leaguers (as long as you pay $4 a piece for them).

Something like that at least.

oh.

that works perfect imo.

I know I have to draft one more minor leaguer but havent had time to sort through the available players.

What time were you guys planning on starting the auction?

I would really caution against making the league more complicated than it already is. Makes it even harder to commish/police, and tough for replacement owners to catch on. I don't think the rules as they are now really discourage trading - there is usually at least one or two minor league guys who can either be cut or promoted. I am not strongly opposed to the change, but I think it's dangerous to keep tinkering in ways that increase complexity.

also a good point. a rule change isn't really a priority, things worked fine last year.

primetime, League Spreadsheet, rosters are all up to date, and theres a tab for the 2011 rookie draft.

so you guys cool with starting tonight? i have to send out a league email to make sure i have everyones attention/they know to start checking in.

I'm cool with starting whenever. I just want to check that I'm only committed to guys that I buy for this year, but I can resign anyone I want next year at existing salary +5%, and that I can keep doing that for as long as I want.

Auction is for non rookies only, so i didnt bother entering minor league rosters on there. ignore any rookies on that list. (note the 30 man rostesr, 960 cap)

also i could use some cap space too.

Soria, Bell, and Stewart make the most sense for me to move if anyone wanst one!
