Yeah it is very dubious from the site, but is likely either poor planning or lack of effort on the part of the site.
If there is no shirt number and the photo is wrong (or the player on offer is not playing) then the site has a moral responsibility to help its userbase, which they are not upholding.
For me this is a clear error from the site, with proper fail safes not in place.
Good luck with your case, I personally feel you are owed a refund for any non-cashing lineup with him in (assuming the player they listed was simply not playing). Maybe the site should also introduce player numbers.
I would research their governing body as a backup if the site say "no".
Out of interest, were there other players listed who did not even play that night? If there are none, and there is this one mistake, then you have a real case.
