DFS: Advice for a newbie to daily fantasy betting DFS: Advice for a newbie to daily fantasy betting

So I'm looking to get into daily fantasy sports (DFS) betting. I've never played a single fantasy league in my life. However I do watch a lot of American sports and would like to start gambling on them in a DFS-type format. I'm pretty much sold on joining FanDuel. I'll be looking to play low to mid-stakes one week/one day leagues. I'll be betting on American football, baseball, basketball, and possibly hockey.

My question is this (please post a link if this has been asked a million times already): What are the basic and essential tools I'll need to be good at this? What sites/tools should I know about and use? What about FanDuel bonuses and promos? What should I avoid? So if I were to advise a newbie on poker, I would mention Holdem Manager, an online training site like Deuces Cracked, a few good books, 2+2, posting hands in the forums, etc. What would be comparable for a fantasy sports bettor? Thanks from a newb.

If only there was an entire thread dedicated to each DFS format in this forum.

Once again asking my original question to those who might actually want to help--see post #1. I've heard Yahoo is pretty well respected. Would this be 'fantasysports.yahoo.com?"

I don't know how Yahoo could possibly help you with DFS in any way. Common advice to newbies around here is to check out Rotogrinders. No better place to start, and the best place to keep up on industry news. There's a lot of noise to wade through on the MB though, and I wont even glance at any of their expert picks as I don't want that **** to cloud my thought process.

Well for poker there are tools like CREV and ipython which used in conjunction with books like MoP and EHUNL are guaranteed to make you an absolutely formidable player if you have a very strong work ethic and a little talent.

Is there anything like that for DFS? I've heard of the "computer group" with Billy Walters and others, is there anything you can read up on to become familiar with sound quantitative methods for DFS?
