maybe my sarcasm detector is broken, but uhhh.... You're joking right?
If you don't snappitty snap snap snapoff Goldy the second that trade is sent I dont know what to tell you.

I literally opened this thread to post about how amazing Judge is and what a monster he appears to have become, but cmon man, if you can turn a last round pick/waiver pickup into a perrenial 1st rounder, you do it no questions asked.

edit - that said, Judge is ridiculous! Holy bombs batman!

Should I be grabbing Carlos Gomez? Thinking about cutting bait on Motter or Moreland.

This is the league I've posted about where crazy trades center on keeper eligibility

Last year keeper-eligible Giolito and stuff got non-k Kris Bryant and stuff.

I picked up Judge in 2015 and kept him through 2 drafts, and he can be kept basically for free forever.

While Goldschmidt is great, I'd only get him for this year.

I am in 2nd right now though, if there were ever a go-for-it year, it'd be this year, and banners fly forever.

The guy who offered Goldschmidt doesn't even have him yet, he's a serial trade-aholic who wants to know up front if he can flip him to me.

even if its just now, you take goldy, hands down. theres no way to sell higher on judge right now, he's gonna go through a 2/20 drought at some point this summer

I think Carlos Gomez of old is mostly back now. His contact % is back up to his good numbers, power seems to be there. K% is down, BB% is slightly up above his career numbers. 20/20 seems within reach with a 0.270-0.280 AVG, and even an OBP as high as 0.330 if he continues to draw walks at this pace. He's locked in to the 3 spot of the lineup right now, which should results in a good balance of counting stats.

Depends on whether he's out of it this year. If he's not going to compete, tell him to throw in a closer or something else you need. You have the leverage.

Gonna have to make some tough choices coming up here when Tulo and Donaldson come back from DL. I would also like some flexibility in my pitching staff. Who is most droppable. H2H 2p2 league(keep 6) w/ OBP instead of AVG. Offense and pitching are both solid overall. Looking to drop 3.

Hitters
C. Hernandez
T. Shaw
C. Owings
J. Bell

Pitchers
Liriano
Glasnow (would rather hold him until he gets sent down)
Cotton

Leaning Cotton and Owings, then either Shaw or Hernandez. I would like to have a serviceable backup for Tulo though

Syndergaard yanked after 38 pitches. 1.1ip 5h 2bb 5er. Not sure who is dumber in this situation. Thor for refusing the MRI or the Mets for letting him pitch without getting an MRI.

Have I mentioned that you shouldn't take pitchers early?

So this game that rendon had today has to be the best fantasy game by a hitter since the steroid era right?

6/6, 5 runs, 3 dongs, 10 RBI

Is tanking saves in roto 5x5 a guaranteed loss?

I'm not finding a reasonable path to more saves--everyone in my ypl is asking for too much, so I'm thinking about trading for some starting pitching and getting rid of Watson(my only closer)

Right now the trade is conforto and Watson for arrieta to a guy that will lock up 12 pts in saves with this move

I'd never give up on a category this early. I never draft saves in roto, but usually can still pick up a couple points by year end. You have to be early and take chances on second and third closer options. You also have to factor in more starters are going to affect your ratios, and whip and era can be really tight by the end of the year.

Just make some speculative adds and try to backdoor a closer. Guys like Capps, Doolittle, Wilson, Bradley, Rivero, etc.

Kahnle, Nate Jones, LeClerc, Wandy Peralta

I'd in general just try to grab a few elite middle relievers. Worst case you boost your ERA and WHIP. Best case you gain a top 10 closer at some point.

Ryu, not crazy. He was solid @COL, struggled @CHC and vs COL, but good past 2 outings. Problem is, he just doesnt go deep enough consistently yet, struggling to go 6 innings isnt good.

Corbin I'm less convinced about, he had big K games @SD and vs SD (everyone is), which is swaying his results a bit.

I've always thought punting categories in roto is ridiculous, especially in roto.

Good closers help ratios too.

They're very correct--you need to be accumulating Watson's stats to make the right plays 3 months from now.

There are only ~25 true closers, which means in a 12 man everyone has about 2. The rest are embattled or committees. Some people will lose a closer and others will gain. If you happen to gain a closer, it can be a ~5 roto point swing if you can move through the pack.

You never want to run away with saves or fall way behind. If you're too far ahead and trapped in a closer arms race late in the season, then trade closers away so the pack gets closer to you while you gain in other cats. If you're behind, speculate on guys like Soria who can move you way up in the pack if Herrera gets traded. Only trade for closers late in the season when you have a very good idea of how many roto points the trade will net you.

Okay, traded away

Aaron Judge and Ryon Healy

for

Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Allen

I guess I have to feel like I crushed that trade

Hope Judge is more rookie Joc Pederson than rookie and uninjured Trevor Story

All in on this year, banners fly forever!

This is generally overstated, since there are always owners looking for closers. The extra saves just give you cushion and allow you to trade for statistical need. You really can't ever have too many saves in mid-July.
