I have an auction on Saturday.

260$ budget

C 1B 2B 3B SS IF OF OF OF UTIL UTIL - SP SP SP SP RP RP P - B B B B DL DL

OBP R RBI HR SB - QS ERA WHIP K H+S

who would be some unsung heroes with these settings? who of the top guys does these settings affect the most? what value picks would you look to target given these settings?

Votto, Goldschmidt, and Harper all walk a ton so they should be locks for .400+ OBP.

Matt Carpenter and Brandon Belt are mid-tier guys with sneaky-good proven OBP that might play up in your league.

Ender Inciarte for the Braves is leading off, already has elite contact skills, and improved his walk rate 3.2% from '15 to '16.

In a H+S league I'd bump up middle relievers with great ratios that are also closers in waiting. Betances and Miller aren't dropping far but guys like Nate Jones, Addison Reed, Hector Neris, Joe Kelly, and Luke Gregerson are all probably worth more than the bottom third of closers.

I'd stay away from fringe closers like Sam Dyson, Brandon Kintzler, Jeanmar Gomez, and Fernando Rodney. Their hold on the job is shaky and their K rates or ratios suck too much compared to the higher end setup guys I mentioned.

Proven closers will be greatly overvalued. Basically their price wont change in the auction but their value will be reduced by ~40% or more with H+S rather than just saves.
Joc Pederson and Carlos Santana are two guys who get a big boost in OBP and are not highly sought after. They can generally be had dirt cheap relative to their actual value.

Also, in Quality Start leagues, speaking very generally, I'd bump up veteran pitchers and move down younger pitchers.

You need 6+ IP to get a quality start, and someone like Julio Urias is getting his innings managed so carefully that he's basically worthless in your format.

John Lackey somehow managed 26 QS in 2015, and 20 last year. Guys like Ivan Nova, Quintana, Samardzija, etc have higher floors

Just traded Maikel Franco for James Paxton.

Who do you like more for this year only?

Sandoval hitting 5th with Moreland out which seems pretty noteworthy. I guess if Moreland sucks and is moved down in the order he's the first guy taking the spot and not Boegarts and JBJ (assuming Sandoval doesn't suck too)

On the hitting side belt, top 10 OBP will have an ADP far lower than that warrants

Taillon and nova should have a high percentage of their starts be QS

Dull probably a good UTR holds target

Judge wins the RF job. There are worse late round fliers and his upside is indisputable

You need that guy to give you a 7 IP, 10 K kind of line week in and week out.

When your ace has a 2-start week, it's a huge boost.

You basically have no shot in the playoffs for pitching if you don't have at least one ace, hopefully with another or two that have turned into aces.
Oh man, I went the other way. I loaded up on offense and drafted five closers, then for a bunch of meh starters late

Loading up on offense is always correct, they're safer injury risks and less volatile year to year than pitchers are,

I'd look to trade for an ace. There's always somebody who drafts 2 or even 3 of the ace tier and probably has ****ty hitting, look to make a deal.

Brock Stassi makes roster for Phillies, slow developer in minors, not convinced he's a major league guy, but his ST was really good, and could easily play some 1B and maybe LF, worth watching

Opening Day can't get here soon enough!

There's still time for everyone to make a 2017 MLB PEEHS entry!

You can fill it out in 5 minutes, and it'll be a fun season-long sweat as the reveals happen.

Think of it as another way to have a rooting interest in baseball, all you have to do is make an entry and drop in on the reveals as much or as little as you like all year long!

I have a league with similar categories and I try to not spend more than $1 on RPs. With H+S you have so many more options, and you can put the extra money towards hitters. Usually people still focus on closers, and I aim for people like Grant Dayton, Shawn Kelley, Barraclough, Uehara, Hector Rondon, etc. in the last rounds

Is Seth Lugo worth holding onto now or is it worth picking up a SP?

This is a 5 SP, 3 RP, 14 player league BTW Head 2 Head 5X5 league.

My bullpen:
Bumgarner
Salazar
Harvey
R. Hill
T. Anderson

Capps
Reed
Nerris

Lugo & Montgommery are the only SPS on my bench
I was worried about my RPS at first but i think with reed getting the closing and he is good at his position originally, as well as capps coming back- as long as nerris takes over closing position i think i can be ok (at least for now).

Free Agents at SP available:
- Feldman
- Chatwood
- Hammel

Lugo's not in the rotation, and Matz will come back in the rotation in a month or so. He seems like 7th SP on the list for Mets, I'll pass

I would try looking at something like Fangraphs Calculator for Auction Values, input your settings, see what the values are that pops out. See who is a lot higher/lower then you expect

If only those 2, Hammel I guess

edit: Also, hope you know Reed is only closing for 2 weeks

yeah less than I was hoping. I'm gonna have to work some deal out for RP eventually but he's a solid middle-reliever. I'm hoping nerris steps up an tkes the closing spot then I think I would be pretty solid anyway.

True, I meant more for offense. H+S you can basically just check for good hold pitchers, and add them to the closer mix
