Found out I'm drafting 9th this year in a 14 man H2H league. Anyone have a clue which strategy to take when drafting (very new to fantasy baseball)?

H2H, 5X5 scoring. 14 team.

5 SP, 3 RP, no util. no P, 1 DH. 6 bench. Everything else standard.

It looks like I'm going to be able to pick between Harper and Rizzo first round; right now I'm leaning towards Harper. Second round I'd really like to pick up Seager but would be happy with Marte. There's no chance I take Syndergaard right?

Any help would be appreciated. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing and would be happy to at least be competitive my first year doing fantasy baseball haha.

Downgrade non-save relievers and catchers a bit. Because you're a rookie, I like Harper's upside over Rizzo's stability...kind of a Kill Phil approach to fantasy.

I don't personally like a pitcher in the 2nd round, so keep that in mind when I say your best options probably come down to these tiers:

Cabrera/Blackmon/Correa
Freeman
Votto/Seager/Marte

So Scherzer...
Apparently he has a broken knuckle on his throwing hand? What are your thoughts on him at this point?

Im really not sure I want to keep him in the league I posted about earlier, and am seriously considering paying more to keep Bumgarner instead. I hate dealing with players who are already injured coming into the season

May want to keep an eye on Hutchison, moved to Pit so another guy to comeback for them possibly, only 26, 9IP 2ER 6H 3BB 9K so far this ST, seems very likely to get #5 spot with Glasnow struggling with command still

@SRM, I dropped Steve Pearce and added Brach, I think he'll perform in a similar way to Dellin Betances with racking up additional wins and low era & WHIp.

Sal Perez messed up his knee in home plate collission (with his backup C!), wasn't carted off, but had to be helped off the field, not good

No it's not worth it

Kipnis shut down for 2 weeks after shoulder soreness presented while DHing, sounds unlikely to be ready at start of reason (and we all know how Indians deal with shoulders, Brantley's went well)
