I wish Yahoo would structure their Pro League lobby more like daily contests. I would join more leagues if I had an opportunity to join and draft on demand. Instead they offer select dates and often weird times.

assuming health and no roid suspensions villar and morales are 2 guys i think a lot of 1st place teams are going to have in common. i'm reasonably confident beltran will be a 3rd

villar: 4th round ADP makes zero sense at all. you're getting him at literally his floor. extrapolate his numbers at leadoff last year for the full 156 games he played last season and you get a line of 103/21/61/72/.288. of those numbers homers is the only one i could see taking a step back but even then you can just as easily argue he underperformed (his HR/FB on the road was an obviously unsustainable 24.5%. at the same time, his 13.6% at home, especially coupled with his hard hit %, can and should rise). his average is entirely believable as is his runs when combined with his OBP and speed. and the steals considering the propensity by the brewers to always be running is maintainable. maybe 70 is asking too much but 50 is a very sensible floor and 60 is a very fair expectation

his position versatility makes building around him incredibly simple and you're never really forced to chase for position. this is a guy who, especially considering turner is regarded almost universally as a late first early second rounder, should be drafted no later than mid 2nd with his upside not just being 1st round value but near the absolute top of fantasy. getting him in the 4th is an enormous steal and i'm finding myself taking him in the 3rd because the range of where in the 4th he's taken is wide enough that there's no certainty you'll get him if you're picking mid-late 4. might as well just snag him 3 and call it a day

morales: this one should be obvious. he's always had fantastic power but has spent his entire career til now playing for teams in massive pitcher's parks in divisions that have mostly pitchers parks. he's the most likely unlikely 40 homer hitter in baseball this year, he'll obviously have 100 rbi with travis and donaldson ahead of him and he SHOULD hit a career high in runs. the projections on him don't add up at all considering they're projecting the same ISO he had last year and he's hitting in much much much better parks for his power. steal where his ADP stands

beltran: 5th in a lineup that has springer, bregman, altuve and correa in front of him. his runs are likely to be weak but 25/100/.280+ in the 200 ADP range is pretty sweet

Agreed on Villar, but think last year was his ceiling, still good enough to be grabbing that early.

Morales does seem good, but K's up and BB's down last year, he could be declining. On Yahoo he'll be a solid grab, but he's worrisome for me. Noticing that he hit 24 2B and 30 HR last year, so it's not like a park change should help that really, right? (Could be wrong, don't know park factors when comparing those things)

As for Beltran, I fear he loses playing time, and he's 40 now. With McCann/Gattis, why would one of those 2 not eat up possible DH time?

i agree last year was for all intents and purposes villar's ceiling, i think there's a negligible capacity for growth in a couple categories but still. the important thing is i don't think it's his ceiling in a "he'll never do that again" sort of way. i think a reasonable benchmark of expectations isn't too far below that

as for morales he had a HR/FB of 14.5% (12 total) at kaufmann last year vs 24.5% away (18 total). your point about the k's up and bbs down is well taken but it can also be explained by his batted ball % with his hard hit % at (by a lot) a career high last year. dude's coming to the bat to rip some ****

the 24.5% away is very very tantalizing in those terms with his hard hit % because assuming this style if swinging for the fences maintains his HR/FB at home is gonna skyrocket. 35 homers is realistic and i'd buy 40

I'm torn about Houston's situation (more specifically, Gattis). It seems like they don't like his defense at C, so they got McCann, but now they signed Beltran, so he's blocked. Either Beltran loses time so Gattis starts 4-5 days a week (2 C, 2-3DH), or else Gattis is starting just 2 games a week.
I guess they could put him in LF once or twice a week, but he didn't do well there 2 years ago, they're likely avoiding that. Either way, makes me seem like Gattis is going to be a trap play at C possibly this year, or maybe him and Beltran suffer cause of taking time away from DH.

ya gattis is a frustratingly speculative pick with a lot that can go wrong but the astros depth chart is so wide open at LF/DH/C that gattis can by total accident get 120 games started

Yeah, but so far no news of LF (or 1B), why I'm trying to avoid. It sucks, since C is already so shallow

Alekhine, you'll find YPL incredibly softer than the NFBC leagues. It's definitely trickier getting value in those drafts.

I assumed he play LF again this year, platoon with Aoki.

Between LF, C and DH he should get plenty of ABs. And that's assuming no one gets hurt.
