Well thats the exact problem - how much do we trust him to be healthy for 155+ games?

This is what I was gonna say, wouldn't touch Harper in the first next season.

Entering the last day up 3.5 points in Roto with tons of close categories, including 2 steals ahead of the guy in second. It's gonna be a sweat.

If it matters, they'll play it Monday.

I think the only way they don't make it up is if today Cleveland wins, Boston loses, and Detroit can't get within half a game of Toronto/Baltimore.

Yep, Cle W Bos L Det L or Cle W Bos L Tor W Bal W means game won't be played. I don't believe the game will count at all on ESPN, unsure of yahoo

although if the game only matters to Det, I don't see why Cle plays any regulars, and vise versa for Cle

Bro is no more injury prone than he was going into this season when his ADP was 1.5

And he still managed to put up an elite performance in counting stats and obp

Suck it up and take him early, especially with a full season of Turner ahead of him

if DET does tie with BAL/TOR after today and tomorrow, and they need to play a 163rd game, would that count? does anyone remember if the 163rd game counted a couple years ago?

I would guess no and it depends on site, I don't believe the makeup game Monday will count on ESPN at all, and Yahoo doesn't have the option either

UTR pitchers i'm all in on next year:

1. manaea (i've been pimping this for half a season, so see above for explanation)
2. moore. 72 ks in 73 innings as a giant. whiff rate way up with SF. first 200 inning season in his career and it came a year off a TJ season. he's going to be great next year
3. chad green. phenomenal strikeout pitcher who didn't last very long
4. gsellman. if the mets win weds and go deep in the playoffs he's got a chance to blow up my spot come draft day but if that doesn't happen he's a degrom-esque pitcher who even looks the part. ran good in homers, ran bad on balls in play

Ian Nova has a lot more upside than most ~20th round guys would have.

Was Alex Reyes smoke and mirrors?

There are so few pitchers worth drafting in early rounds next year. A lot of the really solid pitchers faltered dramatically in later months, RIP Jose, and a whole wealth of the good pitchers this year have bad peripherals (Sanchez, Lester, Porcello, Hendricks, Kluber, Happ, Lackey, Maeda, Quintana, etc all have xFIP north of 3.5, despite having ERAs well under that mark). I was in desperate need of SP late, and was having a lot of trouble finding SPs really worth a large offensive investment vs streaming.

Or maybe the new landscape of home run frequency is making xFIP less useful?

The premise behind nova was that he's an ok strikeout pitcher who walks nobody and gives up a lot of mediocre contact, so going to a bigger park is going to obviously reduce his hr rate, going from the al to NL will increase his k rate and reduce his era, and the Pirates defense is one of the best in the MLB while the Yankees were among the worst which dramatically decreases his BABIP

The point being he's completely dependent on where he ends up after free agency, if he stays in Pittsburgh then he's gonna be sweet value almost wherever you draft him but there's a lot of places he could end up that make him undraftable

Xfip is still incredibly useful but like anything else you can't just use it in a vacuum

I buy reyes

IMO the most useful stat for a pitcher is k/Bb per 9. Start from there and proceed accordingly
