DFS doesn't seem like that much fun to me. Feels a lot more like homework.

Think Fowler will sit vs ace lefties, more as an excuse for a day off/chance to play others than anything else.

how do you manage so many teams throughout the year?

Guess: SRM treats it like multi-tabling...lower +EV per league, but higher overall win expectancy. Also would think that he watches to see which teams are kiling it early and focuses more on riding them.

i was actually thinking about that question quite a bit the other day. last time i did this i did this basically as GW said, whatever teams were failing i just let fail and focused on the teams that weren't. this year however i can't afford that approach because i'm going to play so many leagues that even if i did that i'll still (hopefully) be left with a lot of leagues to manage

a little background: i own and run a small business and it affords me a little bit of time each day to **** around on stuff like this (i've been drafting from work for a number of my drafts so far)

so anyway, i'm not sure what the maximum allowable number of leagues is, but assuming there isn't one or that it's a really high number my goal is to play 100 pro leagues (34 $250s, 33 $100s and 33 $50s). i think it would be a really fun challenge and wanted to give that a shot to see if i could pull it off and pull it off profitably

i have a theory on how i have to approach this for it to be +EV for me and i'm likely going to draft all my subsequent drafts the same way...first off i can't do roto. if i try to do a massive amount of roto leagues i'm just lighting money on fire. to that end, if i'm doing h2h the most optimal way to do it with minimal (relatively) management is to not look at each draft with the goal of drafting the best team but just to draft a team that can finish in the top 6 in the regular season. with a 7 inning minimum if you have the best offense and if you have efficient (on average) pitching getting in the top 6 is doable. so i've been looking at each draft as of late and taking 17 hitters and 6 pitchers, all closers with good ratios and less than elite k's or elite (non strikeout) relievers. the end result has been an overwhelmingly top heavy and deep as hell offense and a pitching that's punting wins and k's but so be it. again, because this is h2h and because 6 teams make the playoffs i can punt wins and strikeouts and not be punished for it.

the important thing is this approach doesn't force me to race to my computer and try to spam pick up in 100 ****ing leagues the same closer every time a new closer shows up, nor do i really have to sweat racing to my computer to try to spam pickup the next HOT PROSPECT

i have to rely on my draft/trades a lot more and my pickups a whole hell of a lot less which is troubling, BUT i still have enough talent that unless i get comically unlucky with injuries my hitting should rule the day

Yeah, like the point about H2H and I like your strategic approach.

Lemme get this straight - in these YPL you just need to get 7 innings pitched in a week to potentially win ERA/WHIP? Is that standard or just a YPL 'feature'?

What closers you going after? Not 100% correlation but the good ratio guys you're gonna want are obv some of the strikeout guys who will be going in the first 10 rounds.

Seems like this would work but a few bad outings by a couple closers you have massive exposure to in the playoffs would be really tilting

Good news everyone!

From the pro league FACK page there is no cap on number of pro leagues, so that won't stop me from the DREAM of 100

Registered the monday through Friday 50s and 100s putting me at 10 of each

Really hate how Yahoo schedules these pro leagues, it would be massively better if you can join and draft same day.

you can if they're open that day, but they often fill days in advanced unfortunately

edit: and a lot of them just aren't scheduled yet, like no roto's, and auctions arent even until late unfortunately
a queue would be nice to see if they fill, the lack of options is really frustrating

check out this thread:

$100 H2H league and also a unique $100 Roto-H2H mashup league, if either of those interest you.

Each league still needs like 6-8 more ppl.

Maybe they'll actually put their best hitters in the first 5 slots then (although I'm not sure about the leadoff spot). Kinda surprising honestly. I thought he would hit 5th.

Which scenario would you rather be in?
This is 12 team keeper, 96 players kept. I'm listing keepers and relevant early picks I have available after a few trades
It's the same team I posted all the Harper talk about earlier (note that I got Harper and still have Sale too BOOM!)

A)
1st Miggy
2.2 pick open
3rd Harper
3rd Marte
4th - traded away
5.4 pick open
5.11 pick open
6.2 pick open
======>everything after this point stays the same
7th traded away
8th Harvey
9th Sale
10th traded away
Seager
Polanco
Schwarber

B)
1st Miggy
2.2 open
3.4 open
3.11 Harper
4th traded away
5.4 open
5.11 open
6.2 Bogaerts

Basically would you rather keep Marte in 3rd, or Bogaerts in 6th?
I'm like 90% sure I can redraft Marte (or someone better) at 2.2 (but I can keep Marte AND draft someone better).
Probably 50/50 he's there at 3.4
Bogaerts will probably be gone in the 4th round or thereabouts.

I'd keep Marte. There's a limited supply of elite talent and my general philosophy is always trade up.

Does fantasy baseball have a Fbg equivalent? I wouldn't mind paying a bit for quality draft strat/in season content. All the draft prep sites I've seen has looked lackluster

I don't know what Fbg is, but if you're looking for solid fantasy advice, the guys at Razzball.com are pretty good. Unfortunately, you need to wade through the eye-high pile that is their writing (they seem to take massive pride in stream of thought meanderings that have nothing to do with anything), so patience is a virtue.

Example: This is the opening from a draft strategy from the site's lead writer:

For those that are new here, welcome. I’ve gone over my fantasy baseball draft strategy previously. Luckily for you, I will happily coddle you. Unluckily for you, I think coddle means to fart on your pillow when you’re out of the room, causing you to get pink eye. For all your previous misguided attempts at drafting in fantasy baseball leagues, you might be SMDH or telling yourself FML, but now you will be SMDH like, “Look at me smiling like I just smoked some reefer and shaking my damn head at my new knowledge of fantasy baseball drafts.” Or you might be telling yourself FML, but now you mean it like, “I just got my life drunk on a case of Pabst and we’re going to screw for the first time real romantic-like. Could someone light a candle while I eff my life?”

Just so much awful. You need to really learn to unfocus your eyes until you see numbers.
