Australian noob here

Likely going to have picks 5-7 in the drafts that I care about (one 10, one 12, both draft orders based on World Cup teams)

If I got Megatron/Jimmy G in those picks, who would have to be on the board to not draft an RB in the second round?

Probably something like Demarius Thomas, Julio Jones, Dez, Marshall.

People could make arguments for Peyton and AJ Green too (have heard some interesting suggestions on why AJ Green may clearly be below that tier though). I think I'd have a hard time not pulling the trigger on Manning at #19, at least in say one league. And I get that Cam Newton in say the 9th (where he's been going) is probably way more value. But this year SOMEWHERE I'm getting Manning. Having him on no teams last year made it far too painful every godamn week

Fwiw I doubt you have that decision put to you. You'll almost surely take an RB there in my experience so far. Bell/Martin type guys doing there are so tempting.

As for the rooks, I guess there are some RB5's I'm drafting, and now and again Sanky as an RB2. The wideouts have some nice upside, I'll probably make sure I get exposure to all of them rather than favor just 1-2. I think a leak I had in the past was loving someone too much, and getting him on 7 teams. Thompkins last year was that guy for me.
I'm intrigued by Brandin Cooks on the Saints, but have no idea where he should be taken. PPR of course.

Another topic: sproles

Non ppr, is he even rosterable?
.5 ppr: flex?
Full ppr: rb2?

Thoughts on going hard after two of AP/McCoy/Charles/Forte early in auction drafts this year? I'm pretty convinced that's gonna be my going in strategy.

When was the last time the top 4 backs going into a season were the top 4 at the end? Tying up 110/200 dollars on 2 of those guys can't be optimal imho. One of them if the value is ok, sure. But I hate the idea of 2, personally. Last year I had a great auction team because I had Charles and Shady. But Charles wasn't going for AP prices, he was a deal where I got him. Find those deals imho, even if that's easier said than done at RB.

and not only that, but if one of them suffers any kind of injury your team will be crippled.
too risky imo.
the rest of your auction would have to be perfect, and thats assuming god health.

Yeah, fair enough. Just an interesting year for RBs. Curious as to how Lacy will be valued in my league. Might be able to get him at a discount.

Just made a fairly big offseason trade in my keeper auction league.

Keep 3 players, 12 team $200 auction budget, standard scoring 2/2/1flex

Traded away Ben Tate ($12 this season, $19 for '15, $29 for '16)
Received in trade Jordan Cameron ($6 this season, $13 for '15, $23 for '16)

I had 4 RBs that had very keep-able prices and nobody at other positions. Now I can keep a top 5 TE for reasonably cheap and pair him with Marshawn Lynch ($29) and Toby Gerhart ($10) for a very nice start to my team. Probably going to pass on Jamaal Charles for $59 but it's still an option for another keeper.

Thoughts?

I kind of really like Tate at $12. I own Cameron in dynasty, and I don't really know what to make of the season he'll have. If he wasn't in the top 7-10 it wouldn't surprise me that much. But I guess he'll get his redzone targets, and that's what matters most.

Anyone find that Shorts/DJax/Evans type guys are looking nice at their current ADPs? I keep landing one of them in almost every draft I do.

And my bet for the guy that's going to move the most from his current ADP is Jordan Matthews. Man you can get him really late right now, and he's going to jump up 4-5 rounds in the preseason.

Did my first mock tonight. Picked in the wasteland that is #9 in a 10-team mock. I think picking at least 6th or 7th and earlier has a higher EV than picking 7-10.

Definitely not jazzed at the running backs that are available then. I was willing to pull the trigger on AJ Green at 12, but he got sniped by the guy picking the book-end.

I initially wanted Andrew Luck, but just missed out on him as my 5th/6th round picks approached. I just waited instead and got Matt Ryan and Tony Romo to play matchups, which is fine with me.

My biggest overall impression is that RB's from about the 4th round to about the 10th round are so muddled and disorganized, a major shakeup will occur between now and the end of draft season. That's traditionally the most important places to strike gold with fantasy RB's and I'm awaiting more news to shake that tier out.

meh I barely see a huge gap once Megatron is off the board. Are we really caring much at the difference between Dez, Jimmy, Thomas and then the RB5-6-7-8? Seems about equivalent to me, in PPR I won't really put too much thought into those picks. I'll probably just grab 1 of each across several leagues, and feel fine about it.

I did another mock draft and picked 3rd. I was ecstatic that Shady fell to me. I haven't put a lot of thought into it yet, but I'd happily take Lesean McCoy 1st overall, ahead of All Day and Charles, because lol rushing CHAMP, and both All Day and Charles have blown their knees out before.

This time I got Andrew Luck with my top of the 5th round pick, which made me happy.

I think the ADP's for Pierre Garcon, Kendall Wright, and Shane Vereen are WAY too low, especially in PPR leagues. Kendall Wright especially, he's a PPR monster available in the 7th/8th round.

That's all I got for now

Any thoughts on him? I know very little about him other than he seems super explosive and I think there was a Brees quote saying he could see him in a Sproles type role

Cooks is really interesting to me. On the one hand, Tavon Austin and C-Pat were both impact players when their teams decided to feed them "Sproles-y" type targets as far as screens, runs, and short YAC centric routes, their teams just weren't consistent in giving them those opportunities. The Saints have had that role in their offense going back to Reggie Bush and that player has always been fantasy relevant, so that's something.

On the other hand, Cooks is really a receiver where the other two guys are more hybrid players. Like, Tavon Austin had 600+ rushing yards his senior season and Cooks had about 200. They also just look different on film, Cooks is a more complete receiver in the sense you can see him display ball skills and attack all areas of the field, but he also looks more fast than insanely shifty or whatever, so that may be better news for his long term prospects as a legit wideout than a testament to his ability to step in and be Darren Sproles.

Idk, he's probably a guy where we'll learn a lot in the preseason, not so much from if he's with the first team all the time but more from what type of plays he's involved in.

Depends a lot on your scoring format for Vereen. I have leagues where if you drafted today he'd be gone in the mid second round (because everyone goes for backs), but his current ADP is a lot lower than that since all the WR1's are going before Vereen is off the board in current mocks.

I think Garcon is still going to wind up in around the same spot (WR9 to WR11ish), but he'll do it differently. Less receptions, but more TDs. I'm a bit less worried about healthy competition (DJax, Reed, etc...), and a bit more curious about just how much they are going to let RG3 run. By all accounts it sounds like a lot. The good news is their D still sucks, and that division is going to have a lot of shootouts.

Last year when Gordon was suspended, Cameron starts with:

9/108/1
5/95

and the Browns looked awful. Gordon comes back week 3, and their offence looked way better and they won the next 2. Cameron's lines:

6/66/3
10/91/1

So I think that's about what you can expect. Cameron will be fine in PPR without Gordon, but obviously he and the offence will suffer in the redzone department without him. I think in standard scoring Cameron will drop off a fair bit.

Also which QB was throwing to Cameron did seem to matter, so all this speculation is prob a crapshoot until we know more about the QB position.

Any advice on how you guys would infuence a long running league to switch websites(this is my 2nd year). A league I'm currently in pays like 8% off the top for hosting fees.

I mean its a super soft keeper league w/ a bunch of lol olds, but they pay like $120 a year for the "privilege" of playing on cbs sports.

This is the leagues ~10th year if that maters.

Are you in my league?

In all seriousness I have a league 10+ years that is on CBS. But the guy that runs it has a hard on for Nate Zegura and loves the fantasy info from him. So I lost the lets change to a free site why are we paying for this garbage argument. The upside is that you know who he is picking up every week.
