2012 Fantasy Football thread

Seeing how people are bumping my thread from last year for no good reason, posting epic fail, etc etc, let's make a decent thread. Points for discussion:

- Gronk (and to a lesser (?) extent, Graham) are that overpowering that taking a tight end before pick ~40 is actually a viable option. How high do we dare to take them?

- McCoy/Rice/Foster seem like the obvious top three, but who's the best RB after that, who do we take at 4 (have seen various claims of ARod, Mafews, Megatron...) and how do we rank these?

- I am confused as to how Trent Richardson, awesome as he may be, is being drafted generally in the early second given that the Browns are still terrible and will not be running the football that much. Explain.

- Awful, awful lot of players being underdrafted in rounds 3-4 due to injury concerns, who do we like?

- For those in dynasty/keeper leagues, aside from Richardson who do we like?

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

Depending on when your league drafts I think AP will be the biggest risk reward of the entire FF season, he's obv top 3 back who will likely be available in second and possibly third round... depends on training camp and how he progresses obv...

High, like 3rd round, maybe 2nd high (assuming 10 teams). Getting WR1.5 production out of your TE is unreal.

Mafews or AP assuming he's playing. Mafews might end up being this years "Why didn't he take the leap everyone said he did" guy but that's the inherent risk.

AP is not a human being and therefore not subject to the laws that govern our bodies and their healing processes.

His coach basically said he's getting 300 touches this year and the Browns made Peyton Hillis a stud for a year (in case it's not clear, TRich>Hillis).

300+ carries, 40+ catches. line has a ton of potential. elite prospect.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

By the way. Looking to join a Dynasty/Keeper league or two (under $200) if anyone has openings in their league. Trying to get in early so I try and use offseason to rebuild what will probably be a crappy team (since owner doesnt want it anymore)..

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

my first time commishing a football league. would like some help in design if possible

roster setup 1qb/2rb/3wr/1te/1r-w-t/1k/1d/10 bench

scoring:
PPR
pass td: 4 pts
int: -2
fumble: -2
25 yards passing/pt

everything else standard yahoo settings for points. is there anything i should change w/ roster and scoring?

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

Think PPR is a must obv ive played in a non ppr league and its brutal kickers getting more points than wrs is just stupid to me. league looks pretty good to me

if it's ppr and -2 ints i would make passing tds 6pts or the qb position gets pretty devalued...

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

won't really be looking too much at richardson in my non-keeper leagues

i like arod at 4 but if i get a mid-to-late first round pick this year in redrafts, my go-to may be CAM

gronk's a 2nd rounder, won't take him there but would snap him in 3rd

as far as injury rebound candidates go, there's forte, ap, mcfadden, charles, britt, finley and others i'm sure i'm forgetting. finley could be great value, same with britt. of all those despite his awful track record for getting hurt, i really do like mcfadden. guy is a stud when healthy

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

done 14 drafts so far (10 team PPR) , what I've experienced is Gronk and Graham don't get past the 2nd round, Adrian and Forte usually near the end of the 2nd, and Stafford who I'm high on I always take in the 4th round, its about 50% that he lasts to the 4th round, guys I love for the value I"m getting them at this year is Bowe, and Colston

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

anyone else like Graham over Gronk? They're really close imo, I'm leaning towards Graham I think. With Pats adding Lloyd, I think New England has more options and it will be harder for Gronk to repeat his numbers. Meanwhile Saints lost Meachem, and Graham is just so impossible to cover. I heard he used to play basketball.

But yeah, I think it's pretty much a coin flip, fwiw Fantasy Football Calculator has Graham 17, Gronk 19. They are in front of all receivers except Megatron (5) and Fitz (13). I think I basically agree with that. I don't see another WR I'd take in front of those 2. The risk of Andre Johnson is not worth the reward imo.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Football thread

Is Forte's value low because of injury or holdout or both?
