Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
Morse has missed the last few games with a strained lat, but hopes to play again soon.
Jennings vs. Morse is probably going to depend largely on the makeup of the rest of your roster.

im keeping hosmer and strasburg as well, the three players will take up the last 3 picks of my draft so hard to say what my roster will look like right now =).
Anyways I'll just stick with Morse ... hopefully his injury is not too serious.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
So my league is a 6 v 6 roto. The categories are R, TB, AVG, HR, RBI, SB and W, K, ERA, WHIP, S, and BSV.
This is super exploitable right? Avoid pitchers until my offensive players are set and then load my bench up with pitchers so that I rock most of the offensive categories and usually win Ws and Ks?

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
Well that, and I'd be tempted to go for the Kenley Jansons and Greg Hollands of the world before investing in most closers.

Set up men get blown saves when they blow a lead too.

The thing is you'll probably be last in ERA, WHIP and Saves. Punting three categories isn't going to work.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
If anything, punt drafting closers/setup guys until the very very end. Draft hitters and SP.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
using last player picked values does <$0 mean do not draft? They have players like Pineda as -$1 under my settings, and i realize his velocity is way down and he's gonna be on an innings limit etc. but he's really not worth $1? or am I misinterpreting this? They have James Shields as -$11 in ERA, i must be doing this wrong...
edit - using CAIRO

depends how many players get drafted in your league.
im guessing that lots of players with negative value will be owned (and will still be fairly productive relative to the rest of the league)

It just means that mediocre or bottom tier closers are worth a good bit less than normal, they are probably undraftable.

GiancarLOL Stanton hit in the wrist by a pitch. Monitor closely.

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
Beachy or Pineda?
12-team mixed, h2h points, auction, no innings/starts limit, fairly standard rules
We can keep up to 4 players each year by adding $5 to their salary. We can keep a player up to 3 times (4-years on your team). I'm having a hard time nailing down the last one, probably between Pineda and Beachy.
I want to say Beachy has better peripherals and will have better matchups, but I'm afraid my homerism might be playing a part. Most places have Pineda higher up on the list, despite the move to the AL East.
Tulowitzki $25 (final year)
Strasburg $9
Hosmer $7
Pineda $6
Beachy $6
Bryce Harper $6

Re: 2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread
i like beachy better in general for the reasons stated above. (ballpark, league, etc)
adding to that: pineda really tailed off at the end of last year, for possible workload related reasons and now his fastball velocity is down this spring. id be a little wary.
