Why does KQs improve my range's equity more than AQo? Why does KQs improve my range's equity more than AQo?

I'm developing a flatting range vs micro stakes BB 3! vs Btn and I noticed something weird when comparing equities.

BB 3! vs BTN open at 25nl zone on bovada is ~= 99+,AQs+,AKo

I tried two ranges against that range:

TT+,AQs+,KQs,AKo which is about 51%. And
TT+,AQs+,AQo+ which about 48.5%.

WTF? The only difference between the two ranges is that KQs is swapped out for AQo and I thought the AQo range would have more equity because AQo > KQs.

But AQo is not battling KQs, it is battling the specified range you posted. Apparently the better possibilities for a flush and straight for KQs outweigh the ace advantage of AQo and you can see that if you put each of those hands against subsets of the opponent range such as 99+.

AQo has 33.3% preflop equity vs that range and KQs has 33.9%. However, AQo is 8 additional combos that dilute your range. .6% equity multiplied by the weighted number of additional combos probably accounts for the discrepancy.

EDIT: justgrindin beat me to the point about combos.

Note also that AQo counts for more combos than KQs.

Against a range of 99+,AQs+,AKo, AQo is 12 combos, all of which are dominated by AK. KQs is only 4 combos, and KQs does better against the underpairs than AQo does.

its the combos. also not sure if you want your flatting range to be uncapped (no 4B value range) without giving serious consideration to how it will affect your game.

It's Zone though. They won't know his range is uncapped.
