Hi

Whilst this is, to degree, a continuation of my previous post, it does focus on a different aspect, so I hope I am not breaking protocol by starting a new thread, and thank you in advance to all with advice.

Please consider the following hand.

PokerStars - 250/500 Ante 65 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

MP: 15.49 BB
MP+1: 17.5 BB
MP+2: 16.01 BB
CO: 10.81 BB
BTN: 101.4 BB
SB: 10.29 BB
Hero (BB): 48.55 BB
UTG: 44.07 BB
UTG+1: 10 BB

9 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.67 BB) Hero has XX

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 3 BB, fold, fold

BTN wins 3.67 BB

This hand itself is not of particular importance, as this sort of spot comes up all the time. What I am interested in is, in this type of spot what sort of bluffing range would you consider to balance your value range? In reality, how considerably does that range differ depending on your opponent considering that in tournament play we often have to make decisions vs opponents on whom we have limited information, that is gathered after just a small sample of hands.

In a recent article for Upswing poker, Miika Anttonen, states that in the BB vs LP opens from regs, in todays games, 3 betting often works well. He suggests aiming at a range as wide as 20% and using hands that you might otherwise flat with. He gives two examples K2s and 53s.

Please correct me if I am wrong in this logic - In the example of the K2s hand, the King functions as a blocker and therefore we might consider any low suited King, K3s,K4s,K5s,K6s,K7s,K8s. I guess that as the suited kicker improves we become more inclined to flat (as we have greater equity) or raise for value?
If this logic is correct does it transfer to low suited Aces or are we more inclined to flat with the added equity of straight and NFD possibilities?

It's not a dumb question. There is just a lot of text and a lot to unpack in an answer so some people just avoid reading it.

Would also like to know other people's BB 3bet range vs BTN! I think I flat too much, but I tend to mix it up with hands like low suited aces, low suited kings, offsuit broadway like KTo, ATo and suited gappers like Q9s, J9s, 97s, 86s etc (around 40% 3bet, 60% flat). Also depend on the villain of course I 3bet more from SB and tend to flat more from BB.
