If betting is the better play then you should always bet period. We should never make Negative EV plays or plays that are less than the maximum EV we can achieve with a different line. It's really that simple.

No one said it was that simple. We said this is an example of a clear bet given all the factors we have available. There's no better line and no reason to take a different line.

I also don't understand or care why you think you can show down more often when an A hits the board by checking the flop. Had you cbet you wouldn't have to worry about the A as much any way because nits aren't floating you correctly with A-hi and if you're bluffing appropriately the A will hit you way more often to allow you to keep the range advantage and keep betting.
