smaller betsize = more bluffs but why? smaller betsize = more bluffs but why?

Hey guys,

I think its common knowledge that the smaller your betsize the more bluffs you can have in your range, why is this?

I sort of understand why, but for some reason im finding this logically demanding.

Halp!

The smaller betsize the LESS bluffs.
Reason: Imagine we are betting otr. We want to make his worst bluffcatchers indiferent.
With potsize bet it is achieved by 2:1 value:bluff. V needs 33% and wins 1 of 3, bluffcatcher is break even.
With 1/2 pot V needs 25% and we must have 3 value hands to 1 bluff.
Smaller betsize decreases number of bluffs.

Maybe I misinterpreted the question, if so correct me.

Smaller sizes mean you're more likely to get called (because of the pot odds), so your range should be more weighted towards value (not bluffs), when you bet small.

But then isn't the counter argument that your bluff needs to be successful a smaller % of the time?

Then it is not theory, it is exploit of inelastic range leak. Yes when V calls the same range against small/big bet we can bluff with smaller size and wider bluff range.

While this is true, the math doesn’t “know” this. The required bluff frequency is simply Bet/Total Pot to make villain indifferent given you bet nuts or air. Therefore the smaller the bet, the lower the indifferent bluffing percentage.
