Six plus holdem? How much bigger does this play? Six plus holdem? How much bigger does this play?

NEW game I've been playing at home games is six plus hold em. All cards from 2-5 are removed. 36 card deck. Hand ranking are different. Trips beat straight. Flush beats fulll house. Every thing else is same. Ace is considered low for straight so a6789 is wheel.

My question is how much bigger of a roll should one have to play this? People say Omaha plays twice as big as holdem generally so would it be safe to say this plays twice as big too?

How much bigger would six plus Omaha play versus normal Omaha or normal holdem given same blind structure?

How about big o?

Also any major strategy differences? Flushes are rarer therefore more valuable. Does value of ax suited raise greatly now or play it about the same? Slow playing top set on rainbow board seems more profitable now. Even on a flush draw board it still seems like a good play depending on action since flushes are so rare

Any 6 plus players out there care to give any advice? Thanks.

i mean, the reason PLO runs bigger is because the equities run more closely together. from how you describe this game i'm not sure why equities would run more closely together. i'd just assume you need roughly the same roll for this as you do regular holdem, assuming your relative skill level is the same in both games

ace is only low? is TJQKA not a straight then?

adjustments are pretty obvious, but i'd guess will be pretty hard to implement effectively until you start to get a feel for the game. draw to flushes more often. a set is essentially nutted on a non-flush board. etc

one thing you may not have considered is that now it will be easier to make pairs and trips because there are fewer ranks in the deck (consider the extreme case where you have only Aces - you'd be making quads every hand). so you will have to adjust your valuation of hands accordingly

Well, technically you "need" an infinite sized bankroll if you're a loser in a game. So I'd take the stance that you should consider yourself a loser and play with as big of bankroll or as small of stakes as possible, until you get comfortable that you're winning in this game.

As to variance, it does seem like certain high-variance type spots will happen a lot more in this game than regular NLHE. For example, sets vs overpairs. And big combo draws with a lot of equity on the flop, which don't mind getting it in to see two cards. So I could see this being a higher variance game than NLHE.

You're worried about bankroll management for crazy home games?

Anyway equities would indeed run closer together since trash hands being removed brings up the overall average equity by a decent amount. Also, a big part of PLO action isn't mathematical but more psychological. People overvalue straight and flush making combos in PLO (which can be anything) due to their power in holdem. Even if the game is more inherently high variance due to equities, you'll get a lot more variance on top of that due to human error.

Might need 50%-100% larger bankroll overall.
