Heart Richard Garfield (creator of Magic: the Gathering) lecture on Skill vs. Luck in games [video]

(x-post from NVG)

Dr. Richard Garfield on "Luck Versus Skill" [video -- just the first 15 minutes]

A recent lecture by Richard Garfield (creator of Magic: the Gathering) on skill vs. luck in games in general. Garfield has an experienced, innovative, and valuable perspective, bringing a lot of ideas well beyond the usual approaches taken by the poker community on this topic.

The first 15 minutes of this talk is by far the most concise and incisive treatment of the issue I've ever heard. If you're at all interested in the question of skill vs. luck in poker, this is a worthwhile watch.
