Is this rake structure reasonable, and what adjustments to make?

Let's say the local game available for me to play is
1/2/3 blinds, $5/pot rake, or $1 if no flop seen. The stacks typically range from short to deep, with most people having medium stacks of maybe 65 big blinds.
Is the rake too high to even consider playing?
If one can play, what adjustments should he make?
For example, let's say I like to limp with AK in early position. Would that be insane here (because of the high rake)? If limping doesn't make sense, then would you just fold AK under the gun, (presumably balance doesn't matter if people won't play with you long enough)?

Just curious do you live in LA? Because the game is very similar here.

You will need to have more edge to combat the rake, this goes along with playing tighter against weaker live players.
AK is a great hand and plays well in fixed limit, so raisey daisey.
I don't know if that rake structure is reasonable, but the casino has large overhead and such...
