Quick question - poker tools for analyzing live hands Quick question - poker tools for analyzing live hands

Here goes. I think (read I am 100% positive) I have been playing and approaching the game of poker incorrectly, and I have just begun to dive into the notions of analyzing frequencies and constructing ranges that fit those frequencies for calling, defending, checking, bluffing, etc.

Rather than ask the plethora of questions swirling in my head at the moment, I will continue to do research through these forums and books and come back here when I have some specific (smarter) questions to ask.

I do want to ask one question though, and it relates to constructing hand ranges and analyzing live hands away from the table. I recognize that this is going to be the key step to me getting better.

Are there software tools (or other tools) available that will help in this? If so, where would you start in terms of which tools to use to start down this rabbit hole? Basically, I am trying to figure out what can help me construct good "rule of thumb" ranges for opening in EP, MP, LP, etc. Obviously, these will be very fluid based on opponents, table dynamics, perceived images, blah blah blah. But I feel like I need to start somewhere.

Then, are there tools that can then help run specific live hands through analysis of frequencies along various streets, or is this something I just need to do by hand?

Sorry for the TL;DR quality of this, but I am just hoping to get some ideas on what is out there. If there is a thread that has already answered this, I would love a link and I can just read through that. Just haven't found anything yet.

Thanks.

If your looking for some kind of baseline, maybe start with online ranges? Won't really apply to live play but their probably more fundamentally correct.

Live play is just too wide for general rules of thumb. Just the deviations in stack sizes alone create a very large number of combinations, not to mention the players themselves.

I think your approach should instead focus on why your range should be changing, then you'll be able to adapt it for any situation.
