In Cash Games, considering that the aim is to be profitable at every hand you play this will naturally make you to be more analytical and/or selective in choosing the hands you get involved with. So this means you are going to get involved in less hands than you would in case you were playing Sit N Gos. Then how to improve your Cash Games skills if playing more hands doesn't necessarily depict/simulate the best strategy at a Cash Game table? (In fact, quite the opposite: practicing playing more hands for a Cash Game may induce you to play more marginal not-that-profitable hands (thus making you more risk-tolerant) and expose you to more risks. Then what is the best strategy for practicing & improving on Cash Games?)

You'll get better responses (and less flames) if you post this in another forum, like "Beginners Questions".

- Read some books to help with your baseline
- Read these forums and analyze other people's hands
- Sit in a cash game and pay attention to how other people are playing, particularly the people that you see continuously winning
- Play tight while you are learning
- Befriend other like minded players and discuss poker with them

So are you really friends with them then? I'm anti-coaching, but I much more respect the guy who offers to pay me to make him better vs the guy who "really wants to be my friend" and then starts sending me hand histories. If you are talking about study groups, disregard my post (I can't hate on those/they seem smart if done right). The word "friend" just freaks me out when it's used to describe a relationship initiated for gain.

I think you can still make friends while both sides of the relationship is "initiated for gain." It has to be a two way street though. It can be mutually beneficial and not everyone out there is looking just to take value without giving anything back in return. I met one of my best friends at a poker table and we talk strategy all the time and have helped each other improve. I guess it just depends on how you look at it, but these are just my thoughts and experiences!

realizing range vs range spots. where you need to put in value bets and the spots where you need to put in bluff bets. it's a long term game that is also dynamic. so many spots will become common but you must actively change the way you play your ranges to be advantagous in certain spots. coolers happen, just make sure the move you make will make you profit over the course of say 100 or more hands. if not its a leak and has to be removed. removing you're leaks is a major part of refining your game.
