Poker without bad beats Poker without bad beats

Just an idea I have for an online poker room.

Standard NL play, but with a difference.

Let's say there is an all in situation.

The cards are shown up and whichever player is statistically in the lead, has a choice:

Either let the remaining board cards get dealt or get paid off, there and then, with whatever percentage advantage they hold.

OK, so let's say you've moved all in on the flop and you get a call.

You are in the lead with top pair and the underdog has a flush draw (or whatever). The computer works out that you are 62% favorite to win. Your opponent is 35% and a split pot is 3% (obviously I am just plucking these numbers out of the air).

If you choose to take your 62% now, your opponent gets his 35% + 3% (chances of them winning or splitting the pot) so it is actually a good deal for them. The person statistically behind just has to accept it when the person in front wants to just take their higher cut without the remaining cards being dealt.

So you are (in the long run) giving away a small amount, but avoiding the chance of a bad beat.

Could this be done? Could it work, or is there some schoolboy error I have made? I only had this idea a few hours ago. I have several bad ideas a day, so flame away if you don't like it.

If it would be unworkable, can any members think of adjustments to this basic idea that could make it otherwise?

Check the FAQ sticky, ideas like this are very common, and not a very good idea.
