HI guys. Is there any threads or stuff on the topic.

I will give a simple example here

CO open 25% of hands for 3 bb

I want to 3 bet to 8bb with a linear range

How does one creates a linear 3 betting range of hands vs CO range.

Lets say I got the numbers for how much BB and SB will SQ and Cold call.

What % of my hands will I 3 bet

Thanks

If you really want to do this, work out which range of hands villain will continue with vs the 3-bet, and then find out which hands have the most equity/playability against that range. (Use an equity simulator and/or range-analysis tool for this).

As a example of the difference between linear and polarized ranges, imagine that you were in a hypothetical game where you're only allowed to 3-bet with pocket pairs AA-22 (78 combos), and you want to 3-bet with 42 of them.
If you chose to 3-bet a linear range of the "best" 42 combos, it would be AA-88, since these have the most equity when called. If you chose to polarize your 3-bets, you might 3-bet AA-JJ and 44-22. With this polarized range it's clear to see which hands are "bluffs" (the small pairs).

In the real world, an "optimal" range will contain some linear elements and some polarization, because the line between a "value 3-bet" and a "bluff 3-bet" is not always perfectly clear. Some "value hands" can raise and get called by worse, but they become folds if they face a 4-bet.
