Holdem Equity Spreadsheet

I wasn't sure where to put this, but this is something I made that you can download --

http://www.pokertournamenttimer.com/EquityChartsII.xls

I was looking for general feedback. It shows equity percentages vs. 1 and 2 opponents for 15 hands (AA to KQo) vs. opponent percentage hand ranges in a graphical format I've never seen before. The idea was to see equity in context, and I think it works pretty well for that.

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Holdem Equity Spreadsheet

Someone asked for directions to read the spreadsheet -- here's a summary --

The top section of the spreadsheet defines the hand range conventions used for the study. The far left shows the hand, followed by the hand range description, followed by the precise syntax PokerStove requires to implement the hand range. If you want to do some work with these ranges in PokerStove, simply copy the contents of these cells and paste into one of the hand lines in PokerStove and you should be good to go.

The next section compares 15 individual hands, from AA down to KQs, to hand ranges from an ultra-tight 2% down to a liberal 31% range, all in a two-player hand. At each cell intersection we see two numbers –

xx / xx

The first number is OUR percentage equity, followed by our OPPONENT’S percentage equity. For example, we have JJ and put our opponent on a hand range of 11%, leading us to (cell E16) –

63 / 37

If we run this hand to conclusion a couple million times, our jacks will win or tie 63% of the time, and the opponent will win or tie 37% of the time. Our hand is nearly twice as good as our opponent’s hand should be within that 11% range, assuming an acceptably accurate read.

Following the heads up chart, we have charts for each hand individually, from AA to KQs, and how they fare with two opponents. For example, say we have JJ again, but now two opponents. We put one on a 4% range, the other a comparatively looser 15%. We go to the JJ chart, put the tighter opponent on the left side range at 4%, and the equally tight/looser opponent on the top row range at 15%, leading us to (cell F63) –

38 / 40 / 22

If we run this hand to conclusion a couple hundred billion times, our jacks now tie or win 38% of the time, our 4% opponent wins or ties 40%, and the looser 15% range opponent comes in with 22%, nearly a 2-1 underdog versus both hands when considered individually.

Sure, go ahead and share it (I'd appreciate the credit or a link, thanks). I'm glad if anyone finds this useful.
