Defending BB vs SB (IP) Defending BB vs SB (IP)

I am trying to define my ranges for defending in the big blind vs a small blind open. I want to know how many more hands I need to call to account for the small blind's continuing equity when I flat instead of 3betting.

If the SB opens to 3.5x, we can use the equation 1-(3/4.5) to determine that we need to defend 33% of our range.

If we 3b, say, 10% of our range, then we are left with a 23% flatting range. But, this doesn't account for the continuing equity of the SB's bluffs (the section of his opening range which would otherwise fold to a 3b). To account for this I have been using a 1.5x multiplier, meaning in this case I would 3b 10% and flat 34.5%.

Does this seem reasonable?
Can anyone point me towards a mathematical way of calculating this?

Villain dependant.. No formula will give you an answer for this question as it varies per villain.

Well yes, villain's relative ability (to us) will determine how much equity these hands will have post flop.
But, we must be able to roughly estimate how much equity if we were both playing even closely to optimal, and then adjust from there?

Well there is definitely no mathematical formula to know how much equity your flatting hands are going to have post flop obv But i think in a situation of a single raise in a SB BB matchup i think u are defending way to infrequently to only be using a 1.5 multiplier on ur flatting range.

No and no because there isn't one.
