Hi there,

As the title suggests I'm looking to get a better understanding of when calling with these hands is profitable/optimal IP and OOP.

Ideally I'd like to discuss the following situations:

We are IP but with players left to act (MP vs EP raise).

We are in LP vs EP or MP raise.

OOP in blinds vs EP/MP/LP.

Other conditions to add/discuss:

1 - suited vs non
2 - any other Broadway cards you would flat in these situations

This may be a lengthy discussion but you get my thanks in advanced for your input.
Articles and/or videos that discuss this will work just as well.

It's a pretty wide subject.
But here are some general rules. You should usually call pre when:
- You are ahead of someone's opening range but not ahead enough that he'll call a 3bet with worse. That's why AQ is usually a flat vs an EP open but a 3bet vs a LP open.
- Your hand has enough implied odds. PPs are obviously great for that.
- You want to disguise the strength of your hand. This shouldn't be done often but is useful vs light squeezers. For example if you have AA OTB vs an MP open, and BB or SB squeeze a lot, then you can flat the first raise and backraise or flat the squeeze.
- There's a fish (potentially) involved in the hand. For example, a hand like KJo often becomes a call vs an EP open if SB and BB are fishes.

Don't hesitate to post hands that you are unsure of.

You could call with these hands against someone you are likely already crushing because you want someone else in the pot as well, perhaps a player who will play most of the hands they are dealt, who is in the blinds. These are hands that typically play poorly against a raise and should be folded in most single raised spots.
