Do a Google Search on Bond18 a pro here at 2p2 and read his blog, he gives an excellent illustration on levels of thinking players.

Re: First ,second, third and fourth level thinking

^this^ is so true.
I know I have a leak here. I try out-thinking fish/call stations, fail! Some will even start chasing me to other tables!(not really a bad thing).
Solution...
Table select the tightest tables. Tags and Tifs are your friend if you want to employ/practice higher levels of thinking at the micro levels. Here you will find your level 2 thinkers that you can start honing your level 3 skills on.

That is some great 6th level thinking! That is why Ivey is one of the best, his ability to think like this.

Re: First ,second, third and fourth level thinking

Can someone use an example of a poker hand with these 5 levels of thinking and explain the thinking? I am pretty sure someone posted something like this before but i cannot find it.

a simple example would be continuation betting a dry flop, you know that you likely had the best hand preflop and the flop is likely to have missed your opponent so you make a c-bet. Your opponent may have realised this however, perhaps you have been raising the btn frequently and he may decide to play back at you with a raise as a bluff. The result of this is that to adjust to each others strategy you each adjust your own as well as bet sizing etc, as a result you both move closer and closer to an equilibrium strategy
Like a typical BU vs blinds reg war.

I raise AQ on BU, BB calls, Flop is K52r - I bet He knows I miss this flop alot but will cbet my entire range here so he check raises.

I know he doesnt raise Kx here and doesnt turn showdown hands into bluffs too often but does like to bluff raise flops. So he reps thin with just 55/22 (which I also think he probably 3bts or folds these 2 hands pre flop so I call).

Turn is a T - K52r T - He bets, I call

River is blank and he checks I check and AQ beats AJ.

What levels are hero and villain operating on here?
