I am pretty sure these people wouldnt mind having a bot only poker site to deploy their bots. Some of them are motivated by making good AI scripts, winning money is just a by product. But yeah, it's wrong.
Freaking out over bots and not huds, coaching sites or whatever else causes more reg infestation and better players, is pretty ridic to me. Bots are a minority compared to human players. I use a hud all the time and I consider it to be some kind of legal bot, but online poker would be so much better without it, as well as training sites/coaching though there is nothing you can do about those. The death of online poker if it even happens is probably going to be down to general human reg infestation imo.
Blame Taylor Caby. He started the whole 'Online Poker Instruction' revolution. Not only that, he promoted the 'LAG' style of play which used by almost everyone today. Which was actually a smart sLAG style which makes your opponents think you're playing TAG.
As for iPoker.....I cannot blaim them for accepting bots. They would have as good as no traffic otherwise, so why shot yourself in the foot if you can earn $$$$$$$$$$$ instead?
I think some of the reasons smaller sites don't care about bots is because they barely have any traffic to begin with so they welcome rake-generating bots. Unlike market leaders like PokerStars, They also don't care about their reputation since American players don't have much choice and will have to play on their crappy network anyway.
Some tests have recently been run on the i-Poker and a significant bias in some of the results was found. One possible explanation of the results is bots that collude on specific games at i-Poker.
