simply because if I 3b and get called, then cbet and the guy doesnt play that weak vs cbets, then I never have a hand that turns enough equity to barrel profitably usually.

but against people who fold to cbets in 3b pots a lot, its better to have a PP postflop because when he calls flop, I'm not barreling equity to get folds but instead usually need to bink a 2 outer to improve to the best hand and getting floated and having no turn equity isnt an issue.
If your opponent has a very wide button range and doesn't fold to your 3bet often enough, your cbet on the flop is actually a value bet, because you're probably still ahead.

Also, against such an opponent, set mining becomes easier because you can win a big pot with a set without him even hitting the flop

Re: confusing scenario in NLHE

set mining in 3b pots OOP as pfr is just not a good idea lol trust me

try value betting these hands OOP and see where it gets you. there will so many bad flops, hard to get to SD and just generally hard to win money OOP.

the whole theory we are ahead is true but playabilty is low and it can be hard to play 3b pots OOP

88+ should play ok against a huge whale but against anyone else its pointless
