I've heard about the step's etc.

I want to start studying theory further, particularly MTT based theory, but general is a great starting place.

If anyone has recommendations on a series to watch, or a good book to start, I would appreciate that.

There are a lot places you can visit, but I'd recommend Runitonce.com Learning Paths

What better place than here? What better time than now?

What size mtt?

small (1-3 tables) you're always kinda close to the money.

medium (4-8 tables) you're not too far from the money.

large (8+ tables) you're really far from the money.

Also, when you're already in the money, the game changes. Most of the time you're looking for ways to maximize your chance of winning, but sometimes, particularly in wild games, you must play very tight.

Found a study group. Build a network of mtt players, you can talk strategy with.
Read good books, become member of video trainingssites, or just buy a video package (not cheap).
Think about why certain structure favour certain strategies and why certain strategies don't work in certain structures. A good way to learn all the basics is to start with stt tournaments and move to bigger and bigger structures from there. Maybe learn cash game at some point, because cash and bigger regular mtts are very similar.

Some training sites have well structured courses from some of the best players/coaches in the business, but the going rates vary from $120 to $700. How much time and money you want to invest in training really depends on what level you're currently at, and how serious you are about moving to higher stakes.
I don't really want to link to particular sites' marketing campaigns, but you can hit google for MTT courses from Pokernerve, Bfizz, Best Poker Coaching, Upswing. Other sites also have videos and articles, often available for free, or on a $10 monthly subscription.
