The OP basically asked if it's possible to beat micros without getting lucky, not whether it's possible to be a pro. He questioned whether the largest possible edge in poker is big enough to overcome variance in a large sample of hands. If it's possible to "crush" micros, then the answer is clearly yes. One's edge would have to be very small for luck to be the determining factor in a large sample. Casinos have a 1% edge in some games, and yet if you put in regular hours at those games, you'll come out a loser pretty much guaranteed. That's clear not only from endless empirical results, but from basic math.
