With hu some hands are better to limp in then raise but the thing is fish hate playing players that limp in and just leave the game.

If you raise with the hand its so -EV overall but so is folding from the BTN, but if you limp they leave so should you raise even though its -EV just to keep the fish playing?

If your assumption are valid you should limp less to maximize your winrate.

I question the assumptions, though.

First, I haven't played much NLHE HU, but I used to play a lot of PLO and PLO8 HU and I'd usually raise every button regardless of my hand until I started getting played back at hard. I question the assumption that raising almost all of the hands you're going to play is -EV.

Second, how do you know that's why fish are leaving? Are they saying "you limp the button, so **** you, I'm leaving?"

Yes they will say something like they wont play if you limp in from the BTN and leave if you keep doing it.

I heard somewhere that isuldur would make his opponent to agree to not limp buttons or he wouldn't play. Story checks out.

honestly if you play just one table and act really quick most of the time the fish almost never leave, unless they go on a massive heater then sometimes they will hit and run. but you should definitely give action.

If the fish says don't limp then don't limp if it risks him quitting the game . Assuming you can still make good money v him when not limping because I doubt most of your edge is coming from the ability to limp some hands preflop. If it's a choice between raising or folding then since you have a postflop edge v a fish you may as well play the hand by raising unless he's overaggressive preflop then fold and play a tighter range as raise only

Both cases are probably due to rake considerations where limping could be negative EV for all players. Especially for places such as CA where rake is fixed amount per hand.

Balance it out, hands you'd normally limp which are questionable start raising them and see how villain reacts. This is if you feel confident post-flop. To be honest though, you have to be an endless cycle of changing up your play-style because you'll be figured out.
