How do you play QQ if you're facing a 3bet? Let's say that you're the initial raiser from UTG and you're re-raised by the CO. What do you do?
Here's how I think about it:
Value range of 3better (I assume it's the top two tiers of cards here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_...ky_hand_groups)
1) Higher pocket pair (AA, KK)
2) Two overcards (AK)
3) Lower pocket pair (JJ, TT)
4) Strong broadway cards (AQs, KQs, AJs)
Bluff range of 3better:
5) Smaller pocket pairs
6) Ax suited
7) Suited connectors
Against bluffs, you want to get them out. If they don't hit the flop, they probably aren't continuing anyway, so you won't extract value from them. If they do hit the flop, that isn't good for you. I suppose you could extract some value from a drawing hand that hits the flop though.
Against AA/KK, whatever it is you raise preflop, you're probably going to lose that to them postflop anyway. Eg. if you both flop overpairs. Really, you'll probably lose a lot more. So against AA/KK, you lose less money by raising preflop.
Against AK, it doesn't seem that you'd be able to extract much value post flop from them anyway, so there isn't much of an downside to 4betting. On the other hand, 4betting makes it much easier for you to narrow their range.
Against JJ/TT, they'd probably fold to a 4bet, which sucks for you.
Against strong broadway cards, same thing - they'd fold, which isn't good for you.

With all of that considered, it doesn't seem to be an easy choice. And obviously, it depends on your opponent.
