Nice one RPM. Guess you have to look after all those 2NL players...
This was just an oversight. The promotion is for all Texas Holdem ring game hands, regardless of the betting structure.

Send your hand in, it will be honored. The promotion webpage has been updated as well.

In other related news Seth, the guys at Merge really DO need to fix the atrocious rake on the fixed limit games. I know that isn't really your department but maybe put the suggestion to them again. I know this has been brought up with other Merge-skin reps so it has probably already been mentioned to them.

But it really is that bad. This isn't some random "the rake is too high" type of general complaint (although it is). Limit cash-game is possibly the worst deal and most out-of-whack of all the different varieties of poker on the site.

Okay...back to the promo talk. Congrats on the Quad Win at Limit!!

happy to read the quads was paid out(or will be) to someone on a LHE table.

Thanks for the support guys and to RPMSeth for the clarification. Glad it was just an oversight. Have lodged the claim so hopefully it will end well.

Thanks guys, hoped it was just an oversight, remember there are a few of us limit players. Rake is rake, revenge is rakeback, at least with 35% hit about stars platinum level. I remember the old days .. almost one year.

I'm a limit player too. Thanks for correcting the promo. And, thanks to the players who posted about the problem.

flopped quad A's today. then i realized i was playing on lock.

Pretty egregious that the rake at limit tables is still so high. It's one of the main reasons I play SNG's instead of cash.

yeah its a joke and we have been talking to them about it for a year and they could care less

Is it me or have the requirements for the Overdrive Club/King of the Road changed? Someone may have mentioned this somewhere, but I'm lazy.

From the OC page:

"If you earn 30,000 VIP Points in any given month you'll earn your stripes and join the Overdrive Club."

That's pretty self explanatory. This one used to just be 100k hands/month, right?

Now, from the KOTR page:

"If you play 100,000 hands of real money on RPM Poker, you will earn the title of King of the Road.

If you play 5,000 tournaments, which includes SnGs and MTTs on RPM Poker, you'll earn the title of King of the Road."

These used to be different I think, but I can't remember exactly what they were.

Also:

"KoTR winners must earn at least 10,000 VIP Points during their challenge."

I can't even remember what this was before.

The point of the promotions should be to entice more fish and satisfy the majority of the player pool, which is largely micro-grinders. And these promos don't do that.

I play micros and am really happy with the promos except for Thursday because I don't play tournaments. You are getting basically getting double rakeback on the double VIP point days.
04-10-2012 , 08:52 PM
I play micros and find every single promo with vip point goal is unattainable. I have a job irl and cannot spend over 10 hrs grinding to hit double vip points. Have literally no shot at any promos with any value.

Not disagreeing with 300zx but just another perspective. I understand attracting high-volume players is short-term goal for rpm, I feel promotions for low volume and rec players could do more good than trying to attract rb grinders from other skins.

So interesting the number of people who say these promos don't work for them at all....even the miniscule 200 point requirement. Guess I just never considered it.

Maybe a solution for RPM is to have multiple promos thrown in there. Could even do the opt-in thing where each player gets to be in EITHER the double-points days or the other typical ones for micros that they have done previously.

Or just do multiple promos on the same day and make it: "Play 2,000 hands and win $10. Earn 200 points and get double-points all day."

Something like that anyway. There have to be different ways of doing this to please BOTH segments at somewhat the same time instead of alternating months or alternating days, etc.

Basically, if the promo isn't a $109 satty ticket or double points I have pretty much no interest (most of the time). And the bare-minimum requirements I feel are pretty piddly.

Others seem to be saying that they are interested in everything BUT $109 satty tickets (if it comes with point requirement that they still can't achieve) or the double points with low VIP point minimums. Seems like the double points aren't terribly valuable for the micro players, especially those who are still on rakeback and not in the VIP system (therefore can only spend VIP points on a handful of tourneys that accept them).

I think some type of "either/or...high/low" promo is a good idea. Getting rid of the double point days would a disaster, but not having anything for micros has been a buzz kill for many too.

Call it the "High Road" and the "Low Road".

In Sept. and Oct. 2011 there were a couple of promos that worked very well for me.
In one month you earned a bonus if you raked 100 points every day from the first until about the 28th. In another month's promo I think you earned a bonus if you raked 6000 points for the month.

Neither of these were easy for me, but they were totally do-able if I paid attention and made an effort. (The bulk of my play is limit, although I play some stud and nlhe too.)

My bonuses are all expired now *sad face*, and I would love to see another point oriented promo that works for my style of play.

I am not capable of playing thousands of hands per day, but I pay a great deal of rake to play limit hold'em and I want to advocate for myself and other players like me.

April promos are great value for grinders on higher stakes than micro with only one exception - quadrabunga. This is ultimate promo for me playing 4nl.
Sad is that all the long term promos (king of the road, overdrive club, leggo poker) are now after changes (without even notice that for us) for microgrindes without any chance. I have started od February and specially these promos have been my goal in next months .

Btw I have one question, could someone on reasonable number of hands filter in HM chance for hitting quads with pocket pair?
I have it circa 1/10K hands.

I think it is approximately 1/6500, but don't quote me on that. I might not know how to do math.
