World Rapid and Blitz Championship Thread

Apparently Carlsen is dominating the event so far, conceding only 3 draws through ten games and winning the rest. Right now he sits at 8.5/10 with a 3008 performance rating, a full 1.5 points above second place. Who is in second place? Veselin Topalov. I certainly didn't expect him to score so well.

They're finishing rounds 11-15 of the rapid games (G/15'+10") on July 8th, will play rounds 1-15 of the blitz championship (G/3'+2") on July 9th, and will finish rounds 16-30 of blitz on July 10th. Here's a link detailing the action to this point.

Re: World Rapid and Blitz Championship Thread

Karjakin wins the rapids. Grischuk wins the blitz.

Andreikin was having a nice cinderella run in the blitz, was with the leaders for awhile but fell off a cliff in the end. I wonder how much stamina was a factor, playing 30 games in two days. It would explain Carlsen suddenly winning 8 in a row at the end, since he's a cyborg = doesn't get fatigued.

In the end, he did not score so well. I was hoping he could be amazing once more.

He got third in the rapids. Pretty good result.

In the blitz he didn't do so well, but my impression is, blitz has never been a strength for him
