Topalov makes Houdini explode again en route to another loss. Let's hope this is the last tournament, if he cares this little now.

Performance ratings. Interesting how Carlsen performed almost exactly at his, Aronian pulled a 2890, and Topalov was almost 100 points under.

I don't see how 'I ****ed up' is cursing, And lol at all those youtube reactions. (they're probably all from us of a people btw...)

Also in the Netherlands you can even say **** YOU on prime-time television. (which is completely different imo.) Not saying I like that but it might explain why they probably didn't even consider to edit it.

Re: Wijk aan Zee 2012

It was painful to watch him do this to his rating and care so little about the games. He's much better than this, or he was when motivated.

Re: Wijk aan Zee 2012

There were 91 games. Of these 52 were draws and 30 were decisive. 52/91 = 57% and not 78%. Sounds a lot better, doesn't it?

And even if there would have been more draws: So what? Draw is an integral part of chess; it is probably the default result if noone makes a mistake. Drawing is fine; the result itself says nothing about the quality of the game. As a spectator, it is just important that they don't make boring 12-moves draws.

I'm confused by this math... if 52 games were drawn and 30 were decisive, out of 91 total games, then what happened in the other 9 games?

Re: Wijk aan Zee 2012

The "0" key is so damn close to the "9" key....

Apart from that explanation, I blame the German school system for my calculating skills.
