Ok so I thought instead of blitz I would try out the new 25/10 pool.

We were both new to the pool so we both had 1600 rating, but when looking in his profile i saw his blitz rating was 2100.

I feel like I played strong the whole game, outplayed my opponent, and then i just make a stupid blunder on the end.

In games like backgammon or poker the equity just adds up in time, but in chess it seems it doesn't matter, all that matters is the last mistake.

Chess for me is like painting nice pictures on a canvas and then tripping over a can of black paint over it

I had similar games like this when I was in a club about 10-12 years ago
and why i quit this god awful game in the first place.

Looks pretty standard to me. Maybe play more or try to get better at not making mistakes? Or feel better about the game you did play until you missed that tactic?

Errors are more costly in poker. In chess, only your ego is hurt.

Yeah OP, i guess its better to loose by chance even tho you play perfectly ( like in bg or poker) than too loose by your own mistakes...

Try chessity.com and chesstempo.com and quit blitz,
it will reduce mistakes

But yeah, I'm yet learning to forgive myself for mistakes, so I'm also in a bad relationship with such a deterministic game as chess , but in an even worse one with poker where they're costly indeed (though not dramatically because my 'BRM' is ridiculously tight, as I should play the stakes where I 'belong' skillwise).

Been there and it's frustrating, but try losing a couple hundred dollars to some idiot that hits a 1 outter on the river. I love chess because the best man wins.
