What software should I use for a Skype study session or coaching? What software should I use for a Skype study session or coaching?

I'm doing a Skype study session with a clubmate. I'd like to have an analysis board where we can both make moves, and save the result to PGN. Sadly this doesn't seem to be possible with lichess, or at least I haven't figured out how. Some of you have given or received Skype lessons - what tools did you use for this? I think it's probably possible on FICS.

Share your screen and then use whatever software you like. If the point is to be playing against each other, I guess you still need to use an analysis board on something like chess.com but sharing your screen via skype while you do it will still be helpful.

Not to be playing against each other, but so that we can both make moves on the board. We ended up using FICS and chess.com. Apparently lichess will have support for this soon.

You can do it on chess.com - create analysis board, invite only, invite the guy you are coaching.

Also, as Yugo mentioned, Skype screen sharing is a simple way, but then you'll have to input the moves your clubmate makes, which honestly isn't a big hassle at all

lichess heard that I was forced to use chess.com and implemented this feature. Looks like it blows everywhere else out of the water.

Yeah, I watched the video. So, lichess is going to replace everything soon? Like, why even bother with chessbase lol. How does lichess make money again? They just found infinite backing? Does Rex fund them? I need to quit chess.com and move over forever.

Donations.

Oh, and I have been using the crap out of study since yesterday. Got almost all of my opening repertoire up there already. A separate study for each opening and a chapter for each major variation.

lichess has a few major backers, and I'm one of them. it's a good business model, definitely one that can revolutionize the chess world, so I just thought it'd be a good way to give back to the game that gave me so much.

Do they have training better than chessable? Possibly the last bastion that lichess isn't better in...maybe.

No, it doesn't have anything regarding training. I'm not interested in chessable because the free accounts are limited to a depth of 10 moves (lol). And I'm not paying for it. If I want to train this stuff, I just import the pgn to chess position trainer or lucas chess and do that.

Well yeah, obviously you'd news to pay for chessable. I just find it easy better for actually training than other options. I'm still not exactly sure why. But is never get around to training of I used Lucas chess or chessbase or anything else.

Chesstempo still the best site for tactics training. And I have chess24 for the videos/ebooks. But now that I've said this, I'll probably log in tomorrow to see that Karjakin uploaded all of his WC prep to lichess for free.

Titled, "how to get an ugly position that looks worse but is probably holdable no matter what home prep your opponent has!"
